A rabbit with a watch
Alice had nothing to do. She was sitting by the river with her big sister, but that not interesting. Once or twice she looked at the book her sister was reading. There were no pictures in it. “What good is a book without pictures?” Alice thought.

A man in black jumps high and shows different poses (姿势) in a street in London. His dance is so eye-catching that many people come to take pictures and ask what kind of dance he is doing.
The man is Chinese dancer Ma Jiaolong. He was born in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. He started to learn Chinese classical dance at the age of 12. In 2007, he went to university to keep on learning this kind of dance. During this time, Ma took part in many dance competitions, and he won some important awards (奖项).
In 2019, Ma went to England to teach Chinese classical dance at Goldsmiths, University of London. But later, because of COVID-19, Ma had to teach his classes online. Besides teaching, he danced at home for at least two hours a day. However, Ma couldn’t make big moves because his home was small.

Beggar’s Chicken (叫花鸡) is a traditional dish in Changshu, Jiangsu Province. Is it a dish made for a beggar? Don’t be tricked (被欺骗) by its name.

On June 16th, 2022, the Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway (和若铁路) opened in Xinjiang. It was really exciting.
The newly-opened railway is about 825 km long. It connects (连接) Hotan City in southwestern Xinjiang with Ruoqiang County in the southeast. The railway is also connected to two other railways. Together, they form (形成) 2, 712-kilometer-long line around the Taklimakan Desert, the largest desert in China.
The Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway is of great importance. It has 22 stations and has brought an end to the history of having no railway in some counties and towns in southern Xinjiang. And it shortens the travel time. Now the train ride from Hotan to Ruoqiang only takes about eleven and a half hours. The railway will help people there live a much better life.
But building the Hotan-Ruoqiang Railway was not easy. It started in December 2018 and took about three and a half years. About 65% of the railway is in the sand and wind zone (风沙地带). To solve the sand and wind problem, workers planted a great many trees along the line. In some parts, workers built bridges to let the sand and wind pass under them.
