His favourite subject is PE. He can play basketball at PE class. Cindy is an English girl. She likes singing. Her favourite subject is music. She thinks it’s very funny.

John is fifteen now. He is a middle school student. He lives in a small village and it’s about three kilometers from his school. On weekdays John has to get up early in the morning and after a quick breakfast he goes to school. His father wants to borrow some money to buy a bike for him. However, John knows his mother is always ill and his father often spends money on medicine. He doesn’t agree with his father and keeps walking to school. Now he’s very strong and never late for class. His teachers often praise him.

Last week there was a sports meeting in his school. John ran faster than any other boy and won the boys’ 800 meters, 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters. The whole school knew him. He told his grandma the good news when he got home.

“I broke two school records（记录）today, Granny,” said the boy.

But the old woman wasn’t happy. She thought for a while and said, “I’m sorry to hear that. We have no money to pay for them, you know!”

Meals in England are different from China. In many English homes, people eat four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. People have breakfast at any time from seven to nine in the morning. They eat porridge, eggs or bread. English people also drink tea or coffee for breakfast.

Lunch comes at one o’clock. Afternoon tea is from four to five in the afternoon. And dinner is at about half past seven. First they have soup, and then they have meat or fish with vegetables.

After that they eat some other things, like bananas, apples or oranges. But not all English people eat like that. Some of them have their dinner in the middle of the day. Their meals are breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea and supper and these meals are very simple (简单的).
