If you want to speak English well, you’d better speak a little English every day. As we know, the best way to learn any new language is just to speak it. It doesn’t matter if you only know five English words or if you’re really fluent (流利的). Here are some suggestions for you if you want to improve your spoken English.
Don’t wait until you feel “more comfortable” speaking in English. You won’t reach that level soon, so push yourself outside your comfort zone (舒适区) and start speaking English today. Don’t be shy. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your language skills improve.
Find an English speaker who is willing to spend some time speaking English with you. You may be available to offer them a language exchange. For example, they spend 30 minutes speaking English with you and you spend 30 minutes speaking your native language with them.
You will get more chances to speak English if you live in an English-speaking country. You can practice by starting simple chat with the people you meet. You don’t need to care about what the conversations are about. Just open your mouth and speak English. Even saying hello to a shopkeeper or asking a stranger for directions is the chance you need.

②Last year, I got to know a group of autistic (患自闭症的) children. We called them “the Snails”. It was hard to communicate with them at first, because they wouldn’t like to. After a two-week training course, I became more skilled and got closer to them day by day. I also received much pleasure when playing with them. What’s more, I found that every one of “the Snails” had his or her own talent. And their colorful pictures on the wall caught my special attention, though it was difficult to tell what they were trying to express.
③Deeply moved by their pictures, I decided to hold a charity(慈善) sale. We walked on the busy street, selling their creative pictures. 60 pictures were sold that day. People thought their pictures were full of imagination.
④Back to the question about how to become a better person, I think I’m lucky enough to get my own answer.

Many people ask me what my favorite invention is. I find it very hard to answer them, because there are so many things in my life that I can choose. However, I have chosen a pen. Don’t you think it’s surprising?
I know that to most people a pen is very boring, but to me, it stands for (代表) possibility. There are so many things you can do with a pen. You can write a novel or a song, record information, or draw a picture.
A pen is like the beginning of something amazing to me. Every day, I write a new page with my pen, and I am slowly making a path (路) for my future. Maybe I will be a scientist and change the world with my discoveries. Maybe I’ll become a musician and touch people’s hearts with my music. Or perhaps I will be a writer and move people through words, or a teacher to help children grow into the kind of people that they want to be.
There are so many possibilities as to what I will do with my life, but I know that with the pen in my hand, I will write a good future for myself. Tell me what future you will write for yourself.
41. Why does a pen stand for possibility according to the text?42. How does a writer move people according to the text?
43. What does the text mainly tell us?
44. What invention is important to you? Why? Write 30 words or more.
