Last year, my mother was seriously ill. I felt my whole world was in a mess and I had no idea what I could do to help with her pain. My eyes were filled with tears (泪水) whenever I was alone. Last month, my father gave me a valuable watch as my 18-year-old birthday gift. It took him so much time and money, but I lost it. I couldn’t fall asleep because I felt so terrible about that.
There have been many difficulties like these in my life. I could never know how to deal with such difficult things until I read If You Have a Lemon, Make Lemonade (柠檬汁). It was written by Dale Carnegie. “When the wise man is handed a lemon, what lesson can I learn from this? How can I turn this lemon into delicious lemonade?” he wrote.
Now when I think of my past, I wish I could have dealt with things differently and wisely. When my mother was fighting against the illness, I should have told her that things would get better instead of hiding and crying.
Life is not just a bed of roses. There are thorns (刺) as well, but these thorns help us become stronger and better people. When life offers us a lemon, let’s try to make it into a cup of sweet lemonade.
24. Why couldn’t the writer fall asleep that night?A.She read the book and thought a lot about it. | B.She didn’t know how to help her mother. |
C.She felt bad about losing the valuable watch. | D.She thought the whole world was in a mess. |

Do you have trouble making decisions? Some decisions can make a difference in your whole life. To make a proper decision, you might need to consider many things. The following flowchart (流程图) can help you make better decisions.
Step 1: In our daily lives, some decisions may need to be made soon. For example, you are interested in playing the piano, and there will be a talent show next week. You should quickly decide what you will show. But most decisions won’t fall into this situation. Give yourself some time to really consider your choices carefully. Then write down the ones that work best for you. |
Step 2: Weigh the advantages and disadvantages of each choice. Sometimes, you may find it hard to think of some disadvantages. Don’t worry. You can ask others for help. However, the decision is still yours to make. The result is up to you. |
Step 3: Once you’ve covered all aspects (方面) of your decision, stop thinking about it for a while. Later, when you look at your notes again, you may feel there are some points you need to change. That is OK. You shouldn’t rush to make important decisions. Think these points over, and then change those that are not good enough. |
You can carry out these steps to make any decision in your life, from choosing what subjects to study to finding out how to deal with problems with parents. Don’t worry about wasting time and energy to make decisions. In the end, the goal is always to make the choice that will help you the most.
27. How does the writer explain the idea of making a “quick decision”?A.By telling a story. | B.By asking a question. |
C.By using a saying. | D.By giving an example. |
A.Ask others for help. | B.Make a decision quickly. |
C.Write down its advantages. | D.Wait until you get the result. |
a. Cover all the aspects. b. Change the points that are not perfect.
c. Look at the notes again. d. Stop thinking for a while. e. Think over.
A.c→e→b→a→d | B.b→d→c→a→e | C.a→d→c→e→b | D.c→d→a→e→b |
A.To explain how to make a perfect flowchart. | B.To introduce how to make a proper decision. |
C.To help us deal with problems in life. | D.To tell us what subjects to study. |
①Games and sports teach people a lot of useful skills, as well as helping them to keep healthy.
②Lots of people love team sports. They enjoy being a member of a team, so they have the chance to take part in the matches and events. They also enjoy sharing the success or failure (失败) with others. While playing, people have to support each other. The members can get courage from the team. If they can’t do that, they can never win. Team games also teach you that losing is not the end of the world. You will always have another chance and you will be more successful against your competitors next time.
③However, there are many people who just don’t like team sports. They have to find other ways to exercise. Perhaps they had a terrible experience with a kind of sport when they were younger. Maybe they feel embarrassed because they think they’re not very good at a sport. Team sports are usually about competitions, and for some people, this is too stressful. So individual activities are more suitable for them. For example, some people prefer jumping ropes in the park and many people enjoy exercising in their houses by following work-out (锻炼) videos posted online. Hundreds of free workouts are produced online every day, so you can have your own trainer without leaving your own house.
④As we know, there are many types of exercise. No matter what sports you choose, they’ll always lead active lives!

四、任务型阅读 添加题型下试题
A good plan always makes study effective (有效的). The following tips may help you.
Find out your study habit. Think about what place and study skills help you do best in exams. Decide where you prefer to study, in a quiet space or in a public place like a coffee shop. Think about whether you remember facts better when you review your notes or when you read the textbook. If you’re able to develop your own study habit, studying will be less difficult for you.
Focus on your long-term goals. Studying day after day may be tiring. Imagine yourself getting a good score on a test, or receiving praise from teachers. Let these good feelings freshen you up (让……精神饱满) . If you hope to go to college, think about how each small study will get you one step closer to your dream.
Break down your studying goals. Large goals are difficult to achieve at once. It’s necessary to divide them into small steps. You can work on one specific (具体的) step at a time. This way, you can make progress at the end of your study period. Instead of trying to read a whole book in one period, set a goal to read 50 pages at a time.
Order your tasks from the easiest to the hardest. You can choose an ordering system (系统) that lets you keep moving forward easily. Try working from the easiest task to the hardest. If you follow the right system, you’ll find it easier to go from one task to the next.
The more careful you can be about planning your study, the more progress you will make.
