The world will never be the same once you have seen it through the eyes of Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump was born in a small town in Alabama in the USA shortly after World War Ⅱ. From Heathrow Airport, get on the Tube --- there’s only the Piccadilly Line there. You’ll pass a lot of stations, but you need to get off and change at Piccadilly Circus. From there, you should take the Bakerloo Line to Oxford Circus. It’s only one stop, so don’t miss it! At Oxford Circus, you have to change again. You need the red Central Line. It’s a bit complicated, so you make sure you will get the right platform（站台）. Head to Marble Arch. It’s just two stops away --- the one after Bond Street. My house is really near Marble Arch Station --- it’s really convenient. Just give me a call when you arrive and I’ll come and get you!

It’s not the shortest route here, but I think it’s the simplest. If you have any problems, just ask the other passengers. The Tube staff（职员）will always help you, too. If you have difficulty understanding what they say or none of them can give you any help, call me at once!

When I was 13 years old, a boy gave me an important present. It was a smile.

It was the early autumn of my first year at a junior high school, and my old school was far away. At first,_______knew who I was. I was verylonely（孤独的）, and afraid to make friends there.

Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt my_______break. I couldn’t talk to anyone about my problem and I didn’t want my parents to worry about me. But I really didn’t know how to_______the problem.

Then one day, my classmates talked happily with their friends, but I sat at my desk_______as usual. At that moment, a boy entered the classroom. I didn’t know who he was. He passed me and then_______back. He looked at me and, without a word, smiled.

Why the moon ran away?

This story is told by the Naga people, who live in the mountains of northeast India. It explains why the moon is far away from Earth and why, every month, sometimes the sky grows dark and nothing can be seen except many s_______ in the sky. It also explains why, once a month, the full moon appears, shining down on Earth.

The Naga say that once upon a time, the moon was close to Earth, near their village. It loved to be near people and it shared in the games of the children and the festivals that took place every year. But one day, the moon was in t_______. An old woman who was cleaning her house stuck（刺痛）the moon by accident with her wooden broom（扫帚）. The moon began to cry in pain. The children of the village thought it was very amusing and they began to t_______ sticks and stones at the moon’s face hurting it even more. Of all the children, only one little girl felt sorry for the p_______ moon and told the children to stop, but they would not listen.

The moon was so hurt that it cried s_______ every day, so it decided to go away and live far away from Earth in the sky where it would be safe from the bad children. This is why, every month, the moon hides its face and the sky is dark. The little girl, however, missed the moon so much that she began to sing a song to make the moon r_______. This is why, also every month, the moon turns its face to Earth again to smile down on its only friend.

Thanks for your last letter. Yes, I’m enjoying myself on my exchange program in France. It’s even better than I thought it would be. I was a bit nervous before I arrived here, but there was no reason to be. My host family is really nice. They go out of their way to make me feel at home. And you wouldn’t believe how quickly my French has improved! I’m very comfortable speaking French now. Although I still make lots of mistakes, it doesn’t bother me as it used to. My biggest challenge is learning how to behave at the dinner table. As you can imagine, things are really not the same as the way they are at home. For example, you’re not supposed to put your bread on your plate. You’re supposed to put it on the table! I thought that was pretty strange at first, but now I’m used to it. You’re not supposed to eat anything with your hands except bread, not even fruit! （You have to cut it up and eat it with a fork.）Another thing is that it is very rude to say you’re full. If you don’t want any more food, you should just say, “It was delicious.” Also, it’s rude to put your hands in your lap. You should always keep your hands, but not your elbows, on the table. I have to say, I find it difficult to remember everything, but I’m gradually getting used to things and don’t find them so strange any more. I’ll write soon and tell you more about life in France.
