Do you know why you get angry so easily while your friend smiles all the time? It’s probably     1     you two have different personalities (性格).

Personality is about     2     people think, behave, and react (反应) in different situations. So what     3     people think, behave and react in certain ways?

Part of the reason is that people are born like this. A baby gets its blood type, genes (基因), and     4     physical things when it’s still inside its mother. These things may help decide what the baby will be like.

But one’s personality doesn’t stop here. Family life, school learning and life     5     can also make you the person you     6    . This doesn’t mean it’s impossible to change your personality. Why are we always tired, do you know?

When we visit a foreign country, it’s     1     for us to know how to ask for help politely. For example, “Where are the restrooms?” or “Could you please tell me where the restrooms     2    ?” are similar requests, both are     3     English, but the first one sounds     4     polite. That’s because it’s a very direct question. So in English, just a very     5     question in Chinese, we need to change the way     6     we talk with different people. The expressions we use might depend    7     whom we are speaking to or how well we know them. Usually polite questions are     8     and include more language    9     as “Could you please...?” or “Can I ask...?” Sometimes we even need to spend time     10     in to a request.
