Sometime I call her on her cell phone, or we send e-mails to each other. We’re really luck. There are so many ways we can keep in touch with each other.

Amanda is a American filmmaker and actress. She came to China three
years ago to study Performance at Beijing Film Academy. Last month, she
moves to Japan to study Economics at the University of Tokyo. On June 10th,
she returned to the USA. She talked with his parents about the cultural
differences among the two countries.
“The people in both countries are very friendly to foreigners, and they
have different cultures. For example, when I spoke Chinese in China, the
people there always showed surprised on their faces. But when I came to
Japan, I find it was opposite. Most local people there hoped I could talk with
them in Japanese, though I was not good for it,” she said.
Amanda thought this might have something to do with the fact that the
Western group in Japan is old than the one in China. They have stayed in
Japan for a long time. And most of them speak Japanese well. But Westerners
in China are still quite a new group. They’re usually treated as guestand tourists.
As one saying goes, where there are Chinese people, there are kung fu legends (传奇).
Jin Yong, also known as Louis Cha Leung-yung, was thought to be one
of the greatest kung fu fiction writer in China. And for many people,
Cha built a magical(充满魔力的) kung fu kingdom that they could escape into sometimes.
But this kingdom is falling apart now, because Cha past away
on Oct 30,2018, at the age of 94.
Cha wrote all of his 15 novels between 1955 to 1972.
Although the tastes of readers change greatly as time goes by,
but his books continue to attract people. His books are adapted (改编)
into movies and TV series, so much times in Hong Kong,
Taiwan and the Chinese mainland that the comparison
of these versions (版本) is of great fun to his fans.
There is always a knight (大侠) who are honest in love,
friendship and patriotism (爱国精神) in his stories. Such
characters move both men and women. For example,
in The Return of the Condor Heroes (《神雕侠侣》), the young knight
Yang Guo waits faithful for his lover Xiaolongnü for 16 years,
believes that she is still alive, even though she jumps off
a mountain.
Cha has a theory about writing an interesting story: “To
make a lie believable, you’d better to tell 10 true things
with it.” This theory works well for Cha’s writing.
Cha’s books bring readers joy. However, his real aim in
writing novels is to show traditional Chinese values.
“Traditional values show through the characters
and their stories, not by lecturing (告诫) readers,” he said.
