Do you find yourself studying the same page for 15 minutes? Are you thinking of a TV show while doing your homework?     1    . Concentration is the ability to focus on a task at hand. Luckily, concentration can be improved through training.

Start by creating a space that’s quiet, and comfortable. Take away your smart phone, TV or something like that.     2    . This area is your concentration zone, and you should use it only for working. After a while, your brain will automatically switch to concentration mode as soon as you sit down.

Physical health also plays a part in concentration. Healthy food, enough sleep, and regular exercise help your mind stay sharp. When stress gets in the way, you can try meditation(冥想).     3    .

American communication and creativity expert Sam Horn provides more tips for improving your “FOCUS”.

F=Five More Rule. When you think you can’t work anymore, just do five more minutes.

O=One “Think” at a time.     4    . Instead, set a time for thinking about a single task.

C=Conquer Procrastination(克服拖延症). Sometimes we don’t feel like concentrating, so we put off work. Just ask yourself, “Will it get easier later?” Then you will probably want to get it over with.

U=Use Your Hands as Blinkers. Cup your hands and only pay attention to what you are reading.

S=See As If for the First Time. Look at each moment like it is the first or last time you will see or experience it.

5    . Use above tips and find out for yourself.

A.Concentration can help you get ahead in life
B.It will help you relax and practice concentration
C.Instead, have everything you need at your desk
D.Stop dealing with lots of things at the same time in your head

【推荐3】Earthquakes usually come without warning. What should you do if this happens to you? An earthquake is dangerous, but there are still things you can do to protect yourself.

Stay calm as the earth begins to shake. Your chances of survival in an earthquake go up if you can keep calm. Staying calm is not easy, but it can save your life.

If you are inside when the earthquake starts, get under a table or a bed. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects. Do not stand near walls and windows and stay out of the kitchen. The kitchen is dangerous because of many glass objects.

If you are outside, get to an open area as fast as you can. Stay away from buildings and trees. If you are in a car, pull over to a place where there are no trees or tall buildings and stay in the car. If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. Earthquakes can cause huge waves (浪) that can really harm the people nearby.

When the earthquake is over, there is still plenty of danger. For example, a gas fire often comes with an earthquake. If you see a fire, quickly move outdoors to an open area.

Always remember to hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
