“It may be cool to ride a bike on the road. You can feel     1     and happy with a gentle wind. But it is important to wear a helmet (头盔)for safety,” Sanders, a swimming champion said.

On October the fourth last year, Sanders was there to start the campaign (运动) called Helmets on Heads by teaching students about helmet safety.

“Action speaks louder than words. That means you should     2     yourself if you want your kids to listen and do what you want them to do,” she said. That’s why she was in the campaign.

Researchers at an American university are working     1     to create special chewing gum (口香糖) to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Experts agree that vaccinations (接种疫苗) are the     2     way to fight against COVID-19, but it’s also known that vaccinated people can still spread it. So researchers are hoping that their chewing gums will give people a low-cost way to further stop COVID-19     3     spreading.

“This chewing gum is made from plant-grown ACE2 protein. It's a special material to help to neutralize (使无效) the virus in the mouth. In other words, when the virus comes in the mouth, ACE2 protein stops it here,” Henry Daniell, the leader of the research explained. “So, the virus doesn’t reach inside the body and the infection (传染) stops there.” That’s     4     this chewing gum is special.

The research is still in     5     early steps, and the researchers are planning to carry out a clinical trial (临床试验) in humans to decide whether the gum is safe or not. If it works, the gum could widely be used when people need to be much     6     to each other, such as teeth cleaning by a doctor, to reduce the     7     of passing the virus to other.

“We are already using masks (口罩) and other     8     to reduce the change of spread,” Danniell said. “This gum could be used as another tool to win this fight.”

When the world stops, a Chinese delivery(投递) driver has continued working as the virus(病毒) spread across China. The delivery driver is Gao Zhixiao. He appeared on the cover of Time Magazine on March 19.

Born into a     1     family in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(宁夏回族自治区). Gao went to Beijing     2     for a job at the age of 16. He tried different jobs to make a living. He worked as a shopping guide     3     he finally became a delivery driver.

“I think the reason why Time picked me is that I helped an elderly person in need.     10     it is a warm story, I’m no different when dealing with anyone else.” he says, “I just hope my little bit can show the Western world the strong cohesion(凝聚力) of China!”
