Rain can be disappointing, but don’t cancel your day out just because of that.     1

Go to a museum

This is probably one of the first things that we all think of.     2     This can make getting into a museum very hard, but with a little forward planning, getting in can be an easy thing. Simply keep up to date with your weather App and book tickets ahead on rainy days.

Go for a walk

This may sound strange at first. However, a walk in the rain can not only be fun, but it can also clear the mind. The sound of rain is something you will find relaxing.     3     It can give you a new view on where you live.

Go traveling

4     On a rainy day, there will be fewer tourists. Trafalgar Square, the Angel of the North and the Clift on Suspension Bridge are just a few places you could visit.

Go to an indoor market

An indoor market can make a rainy day busy. At an indoor market, you can get away from the rain, have something to eat and find something you love. Britain is famous for its indoor markets.     5     You can find anything that you are looking for.

【推荐1】Many people exercise every day or every other day. You may be the same. But what about those times when you are sick? If you do not feel well, should you keep following your daily exercise habit?

Laskowski, a doctor, says that right exercise is usually OK if you have a common cold.

Laskowski and other doctors have a common rule about it. “It is usually fine to exercise,” he says, “if your symptoms (症状) are all ‘above the neck’ such as a runny nose, a sneeze (喷嚏) or a minor (轻微的) sore throat.”

Laskowski also says that exercise may make you feel better and help you breathe (呼吸) more easily. An American health website gives a similar idea.

Geralyn Coopersmith, a physical fitness trainer, wrote some books on exercise. “The rule is that if you take some medicine and don’t feel so sick, it’s OK to exercise.” But Coopersmith and Dr. Laskowski say taking a break is better if your symptoms appear “below the neck”, such as the serious cough or pain in the stomach.

If you don’t feel too bad, these doctors both suggest (建议) cutting back on the intensity (强度) of your exercise. For example, if you usually run, take a quick walk. When you feel better, you can exercise with your usual intensity. However, Dr. Laskowski says that exercising when you have more than a common cold could bring more serious illness.

【推荐2】    1     Things don’t always work out as planned. Even if you work especially hard on something, it’s important to accept that it doesn’t work sometimes. Face the failure, and try your best to improve next time.

2     If you’re burned out or need some time to clear your head, take some time off. For some people, this may mean closing a project for some time. For others it may mean taking a vacation or road trip. Remember that leaving it for a while is not the same thing as giving up.

3     You might feel pain at first, but spend some time thinking why you failed. For example, if you failed a test, think about how you studied for it. When did you start studying and how long did you study? Did you truly learn and memorize the information? Do you need to study or learn in a different way? Answering these questions can help you learn from the experience and do better in your next exam.

4     Don’t analyze(分析) every little problem that went wrong or everything you “should” have done in the past. Instead, pay attention to what you’ve learned from these mistakes. With each mistake you make, ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?”

5     Failure doesn’t have to be the end. Think of it as the start or middle of a process. See failure as a stepping stone on the way. Most successful people have had failures, but they picked up and moved forward.

A.Take a break.
B.Lear your lessons.
C.Accept your failure.
D.Find out what went wrong.
E.View failure as part of a process.

How to stay focused in class

1     No matter how much you want to sit with your friends during the class, try your best to avoid them. Talking with friends is not going to help you stay focused in class and will cause trouble, too.

Look at the teacher. Your teacher is not just standing up there talking—they’re trying to give you an acceptable education. Show the teacher that he or she has your full attention, by looking him or her in the eye.     2

Take notes. By taking notes, you’ll be able to “get into” the lesson.     3     Listen for key phrases such as, “This is important,” “This is the main idea,” etc. This can help you listen more intently; you’ll have something to do and focus on.

Get involved in class discussions. This is a wonderful way to become a more focused, successful student. When a teacher asks a question, offer to answer it.     4     This shows that you’re listening intently during the class.

Ask a question.     5     This really shows your teacher that you want to be better, and can recognize the things you’re having difficulty with. Chances are, someone else in the class has the same question (and is too afraid to ask). They’ll be relaxed and so will you.

A.If you don’t understand something, never be afraid to ask.
B.Avoid sitting with friends.
C.This person should have your full attention at all times in class.
D.Write down key points as your teacher speaks.
E.If he or she asks for an opinion, share your own.
