Four things you’re doing which seem productive (高效的), but aren’t.

In the busy world of work, most of us have tried some ways to help us get things done more quickly.     1

•Working without taking short breaks

When you make plans, short breaks should always be considered. After long working hours, you can have a short break of paying attention to something totally different.     2

•Keeping your plan in your head

If you don’t write down what you have to do, you may save some time.     3     So it would be much better to write everything down and deal with each task one by one.

•Saying “yes” to everything

Saying “yes” is much easier than saying “no”, but if you say “yes” to everything you will soon feel stressed.     4     You will achieve much more by the end of the week.

•Putting the most difficult task at the top of your list

Doing this does not mean you can finish that task on time. In fact, it’s possible that you will still put it off, as it will only make you more worried about it.     5

A.However, some may not be so helpful as we think.
B.The problem is that you may also forget them easily.
C.It’s better to only do a few projects and do them well.
D.For example, listening to music or taking a short walk.
E.You can do a few easier tasks first, to warm yourself up.
F.Comparing with others can make yourself less productive.

It takes a couple of days to build up. You may have a sore throat on Monday, and then have a headache on Wednesday. It usually starts suddenly. Patients can clearly tell the time when the flu hits them—after lunch or yesterday afternoon, for example.

【推荐2】It happens every night—bedtime. But what if you’re not sleepy? Should you still go to bed if you are just going to lie there with your eyes wide open? It’s a problem that has been around.

There are many reasons why you may not be able to fall asleep. You might be happy with everything you did that day. You might be excited about what you know you’re going to do the next day. Maybe you can’t sleep because you don’t like sleeping all alone in your room. All of these reasons are normal. However, there are some steps you can take to help you fall asleep.

One thing that can help is talking to a parent or another trusted adult about what you’re thinking about at bedtime. For example, if you’re nervous about taking a rest, or upset at school, it can really help to tell somebody.

Sleeping in a comfortable bed in a quiet and cool room is perfect. If there’s anything about your room that makes you feel uncomfortable at night, like a picture that looks strange in the dark, be sure to ask one of your parents to move it away. Making sure electronics are kept away from your bed is also recommended as these things can keep you awake, making it harder for you to fall asleep.

If you are usually restless around bedtime, doing certain things to relax beforehand may help you fall asleep when you go to bed. Try to take more time to relax by taking a warm bath, or listening to a bedtime story at least 30 minutes before you want to go to sleep. It also helps to follow a bedtime routine and go to sleep at the same time every night. As a result, your body will get the message that it’s almost time to sleep. Your body will know to start feeling tired.

In order to find the right solution for you, it’s important that you understand what exactly is keeping you up at night. And it’s okay if you need to reach out a parent or other adult you trust to find out why you are having trouble sleeping. Getting a night’s sleep is worth the time and effort of finding the right solution to your sleeping problems.

1. Which is NOT the reason why people can’t fall asleep?
A.They don’t like sleeping alone.B.They listen to a bedtime story.
C.They are excited about what to do.D.They are pleased with what they did.

B.Going to bed at a different time every night.
C.Staring at a picture that looks strange in the dark.
D.Not talking to anyone about something that is bothering you.
3. What’s the use of taking a warm bath?
A.To keep warm.B.To be happy.C.To feel excited.D.To relax yourself.

B.Why people can’t fall asleep and possible solutions.

【推荐3】If you do not use your arms or your legs for some time, they become weak; when you start using them again, they slowly become strong again. Everybody knows that. Yet many people do not seem to know that memory(记忆力) works in the same way.

When someone says that he has a good memory, he really means that he keeps his memory in practice by using it. When someone else says that his memory is poor, he really means that he does not give it enough chance to become strong.

If a friend says that his arms and legs are weak, we know that it is his own fault, But if he tells us that he has a poor memory, many of us think that his parents are to blame, and few of us know that it is just his own fault.

Have you ever found that some people can’t hear or write but usually they have better memories? This is because they cannot read or write and they have to remember things; they can not write them down in a little book. They have to remember days, names ,songs and stories. So their memory is the whole time being exercised.
