Do you know Li Zhenhua? He is called “headmaster of cloth shoes”     1     he always wears a pair of cloth shoes. Although Li Zhenhua has the special allowance (津贴) of the State Council, he still lives a simple life. He has put all his     2     into the education of Yimeng mountain’s students for 68 years.

In 1953, at the age of 17, Li Zhenhua     3     his hometown, Nanjing and came to Yimeng, Shandong Province, to begin his teaching career (生涯). When he     4     came to this poor area, Li Zhenhua decided to     5     here and help the local people get rid of the poverty (贫困) by knowledge.

Since he started working in 1953, Li Zhenhua has     6     away a quarter of his salary (薪水) every month to help students here. It lasted     7     47 years. After retiring (退休) in 1997, he had more than 30 part-time jobs. He kept only 500 yuan for living and donated (捐赠)   almost all the rest of     8     money. By last year, more than 2,300 students had received 1. 36 million yuan in total.

After     9     the donation, the local government set up the “Zhenhua Scholarship Foundation (奖学金基金会)” for poor students. The money really helps lots of students go back to school.

Li said, “Poor as I am, I am     10     inside than anyone.” What makes Li feel really happy is that his students are growing up and giving back to society. He said he would continue helping more and more students.

On New Year’s Eve, young Dave was sitting near the window sadly. He wanted to go outside and make a     1    , but his mother didn’t allow him to go because it snowed     2     outside. His mom said, “Why don’t you play with your toy bear instead?” Dave told his mother that even his bear wanted to go outside. “And I am a big boy now. Looking out of his window, Dave     5     his neighbor Mrs. Scott walking in the slippery (滑的) street with lots of bags. He knew she     6     help. There is ice next to your stairs!” Mrs. Scott saw there was really a lot of     9     near his stairs. Then she called back, “Thank you, Dave.” This made Dave very happy and he began to     10     with his toy bear happily in his room.
