文章大意:本文是一篇记叙文,主要讲述了中国新的体育标准,该标准要求学校确保体育课占所有课堂时间的10%至11%,它鼓励学校提供其他受欢迎的运动。

【推荐1】Since September, many schools have increased the number of PE classes from three a week to five or even more according to China’s new standard on physical education. The standard asks schools to make sure that PE classes take up 10 to 11 percent of all class time.

Alongside basic exercises including running and long jump, the standard also encourages schools to provide other popular sports, such as water sports and traditional Chinese sports. For example, Gao Yuxiang from Yantai No.1 Middle School enjoys the Taichi competition at school.

“At first, Taichi was only required during break time to learn about Chinese traditional culture, but students fell in love with it later,” said Gao. Grade 7 students all need to do it. And there’s a Taichi competition every year for Grade 8 students. After the Taichi classes end, Gao keeps practicing by himself in his free time.

Ren Jianing is a hip-hop dance fan, and her high school helps her develop this hobby. “There are many choices for PE class at the beginning of every term, and I always go for hip-hop dance,” Ren said. “The class doesn’t require any experience, so anyone can sign up.” Every class they play a new movement skill. “Our shirts are all wet after class even on the coldest days of winter,” said Ren.

文章大意:本文介绍了在美国有关邀请的一些常识。

【推荐3】In America, people often invite friends for a meal, a party or just coffee. People often say like these,

“Would you like to come over for dinner?” “We’re having a party on Friday, can you come?” To answer an invitation, they say “Thank you” and accept, or say “Sorry” and give a reason.

Sometimes, what people say is like invitations but which are not real invitations. For example, “Please come over for a drink sometime.” “Let’s get together for lunch soon.” They are not real invitations because they don’t talk about the date or time. They just show that the person is trying to be friendly. People usually answer “Sure, that would be great.” or “OK, thank you.” So next time you hear what is like an invitation, listen carefully. Is it a real invitation or is the person just being friendly?
