Monday, July 15th

I arrived 1 Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided to go to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt 2 I was a bird. Years ago, I feared traveling alone. But after taking several work trips on my own, I’ve realized traveling alone is not only easy but also 1 .

I’ve realized traveling with someone is all about compromise (妥协) over the years. You have to agree on which museums to visit, 2 to eat dinner and what time to start the day. When I travel alone, I don’t have to give up anything. If I want to wake up at 11 a. m., I can. If I realize I need a rest at noon, I don’t need to explain 3 to anyone. I felt free to do whatever I want without someone 4 yes is the best part of traveling alone.

Before traveling alone, I thought I’d hate it, for I would not be able to share 5 with someone else, but I learned the opposite is true for me. When I’m in a new city alone, I get to stay in my own head and experience something without someone else’s ideas troubling mine. I can listen to music, read a book or 6 somewhere I can just sit and think. When I travel with another person or a group, these moments are few.
