Last week, I did a survey about favorite TV shows at NO. 2 Middle School. Some students’ answers are interesting.
Lin Ming’s favorite shows are sports shows. He often watches basketball games on CCTV-5. And he likes Kobe Bryant best. Liu Yuan, a 12-year-old girl, says she can’t stand Beijing Opera. But it’s her grandmother’s favorite. Liu Yuan loves cartoons(卡通片)very much. She watches Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf every day. She thinks cartoons are interesting and relaxing. Sun Jing doesn’t mind game shows. Lin Hui likes talk shows. She thinks she can learn more about life from them.
And there is another interesting thing. Most moms like Healthy Living but most dads like news.

【推荐3】Playing sports is a lot of fun while getting hurt isn’t. Before playing sports, the students should warm up for 15 to 30 minutes. When playing sports, they should know the rules to avoid injuries (免受伤). For example, in soccer, they should go after the ball rather than the player. This way, they won’t hurt others. What do other countries do to keep students safe?
Japan
At public elementary schools in Japan, earthquake drills (地震演练) are held once a month. They teach students safety tips during an earthquake. Regular training helps students escape from earthquake-stricken areas without causing any stampedes (踩踏).
Australia
Most students in Australia take first-aid courses at school. They learn basic first-aid knowledge in the class such as how to call an ambulance for first aid and what to do when someone is hurt. The government is trying to make all kids take such courses.
America
Most US school buildings have fire escapes (逃生口). A fire escape has platforms with stairs and ladders at each story of a building. They are usually made of steel and built outside the building. People can get to the fire escape through a fire exit door or a window. It is not a good idea to jump out of a window from higher than two stories. You may hurt yourself.
