It was a cold winter night. It was my first time to work late. When I walked to the road to my home, there was nobody but the cold     1     and dark roads with almost no light.

My hands were wet and I was very nervous and afraid.     2     , I saw a bright light in front of a little shop, and then I went close to it quickly and stood under the light. It made     3     feel safe. However, after a while, an old lady went out and seemed to     4     the light. I didn’t know what to do. Finally, I cheered myself up and said to the lady, “Could you keep the light on for me? Your light is bright and with it, I can walk in     5     fear. ”

Hearing this, the lady     6     me a sweet smile and said, “Of course.” Finally, I got home with the bright light. The next day, I got off work early in order to     7     the old lady. “It’s a piece of cake,” she said happily. From then on, I could always return home with that bright light if I worked late. At first, I thought the lady was so kind to me. But later I knew she     8     her light to every girl who was late home from that night on.
