1 . Frank’s holiday plan

“Saturday is coming,” says the teacher. “What are you going to do, Frank?”

“I’m going to the movie theater in the evening,” says Frank, “I’m going to watch a new film. It’s an English film about the life of the students in America. Bill tells me it’s very interesting.”

“Anything else you are going to do?” the teacher asks.

“Of course. I’m going to do my lessons. I’m going to study math and physics in the morning.”

“Do you like them?” The teacher wants to know.

“They are not easy for me. But I’m interested in them. I’m going to do my best at them. I think this term I can do better than last term.”

“What are you going to do in the afternoon?” asks the teacher.

“After lunch, I’m going to play basketball with Jack and Joe. Next month, we are going to have a match with Class One. And then I’m going to help Han Meimei with her English. She wants my help.”

“What a busy day, you are a good boy!” says the teacher.

With the sound of fireworks, we celebrate the Chinese New Year. But do you know? Chinese New Year is being celebrated by people     1     many more countries around the world!

This winter holiday, I went to Bangkok, Thailand. I was shocked by the sight. Many windows had posters saying “Happy Chinese New Year”     2     I first arrived in the city center. Many people were wearing red clothes. The biggest shopping area in Bangkok was decorated with many rabbits and a sign saying “Lucky Chinese New Year”! I     3     put on my qipao and walked down the street to enjoy the atmosphere. Many people from different countries smiled at     4     and said “hello” in Chinese.

At night, there were fireworks over the river in the city center, and the beautiful fireworks made me feel     5     to be born Chinese.

What a great vibe (氛围) of Chinese New Year from around the world!

Tree Planting Day is an important festival in China, celebrated on March 12th each year in memory (纪念) of Sun Yat-sen. Today is Tree Planting Day. We are planting trees in the suburbs (郊区) by     1     (we) . Look! Some     2     (dig) holes in the ground, some are watering trees. We are talking and laughing     3     (happy). We are having wonderful teamwork. Trees help us in many ways. They keep the air cool and also make everything     4     (convenience). We get fruit     5     oil from them. Tea comes from the     6     (leaf) of trees. We can take a cool break     7     the trees. Many useful things are made of wood. Trees are so important. We can’t imagine     8     world without trees. I feel it is important for us     9     (plant) trees every year. I believe our earth     10     (become) more beautiful if everyone tries his best to protect trees every year.

6 . Mr. and Mrs. Wilson asked their friends to come to a party last night. They just moved to a new house. The Wilsons did a lot for the party yesterday afternoon. Mr. Wilson bought some flowers and then cooked nice food with Mrs. Wilson. Their daughter Mary cleaned the house. Their son Bob blew up balloons (气球).

The Wilsons finished all their work at 5: 30 p.m. Their friends got to their house at 6: 30 p.m. After they got there, Wilson showed them around the house first. Then they listened to nice music and talked happily. Some people talked about movies. Some talked about sports stars. And everyone talked about how beautiful the Wilsons’ house looked!

They had a big dinner in the dining room at 7: 15 p.m. After dinner, they sat in the living room to relax. First, Bob and his father played the piano and Mary sang an English song. Then, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson showed their friends the photos of their trip to Hawaii. The Wilsons were happy in the photos. After that, everyone danced. The Wilsons’ friends enjoyed the party very much.

The Lantern Festival is an important festival in China. It began 2,000 years ago during the Han Dynasty.     1     It also means the end of the SpringFestival celebrations. After the festival, children and some people wait to go to school or return to work.

People celebrate the festival in many ways. The lantern show is the most important part of the festival. On the night of the festival, many lanterns are hung in the streets and parks.     2     People often go out and watch the lantern show with their family and friends. It is very beautiful.

Lantern Riddle games are also popular during the Lantern Festival. Riddles are written on colourful lanterns.     3    

Tangyuan is the traditional food of the Lantern Festival. It is very delicious.Besides, it can have many different fillings and tastes. The shape of tangyuan is like a round ball.     4     On the other hand, the shape of tangyuan means family reunion.

    5     In the daytime, people can enjoy the performances such as a dragon lantern dance, a lion dance, a Yangge dance and beating drums. At night, except for the beautiful lanterns, fireworks form a beautiful scene. Some local governments usually organize a fireworks party,

Now, it’s getting popular for Chinese people     8     (have) cake on their birthday,       9     many still eat very long noodles as a symbol of long life. In some other places, Chinese people also eat     10     (egg) as a symbol of life and good luck.
