It was said that the Emperor of Heaven had seven daughters, among whom the    1     (young) one the Weaving Maid, or Zhinü in Chinese, fell in love with    2    young man on the Earth named Niulang.

Zhinü got married to him    3    (secret) and had two children. They lived happily together for several years until one day everything became    4     (know) to the Empress of Heaven. She was very angry with    5    the Weaving Maid had done: marrying a human without her     6    (permit). So she came down to the Earth and took Zhinü back to Heaven. Then Niulang     7    (fly) up to Heaven and when the Empress of Heaven saw him, she drew a line in the sky,     8     ( keep) Niulang and his wife Zhinü separated. From that day on, they could only see each other once a year on the 7th day of the 7^th lunar month.

Since then, the Double Seventh Festival,     9    is similar to Valentine’s Day in the West, has long been celebrated in China in honor    10    the love story of Niulang and Zhinü.
