1 . Knowing what to do at checkout and properly preparing for it can turn a potentially heated situation into a quick thank you and goodbye. Below we made a list of five things you should remember at hotel checkout.
Don,t be late to check
Hotels may add an extremely high price for being just a half hour late. If you know you won,t make the cutoff time, it never hurts to call ahead and try to negotiate away a potential charge.
Don,t forget to double check the room and safe
Make sure you don,t leave things behind. If you have an early flight or checkout time, pack up as much as you can the night before so that last-minute rush isn,t too annoying. Also, be sure to take out anything in the room safe.
Don,t forget to tip the housekeepers
It,s always polite to leave some money for the people keeping your room clean.
Don,t ignore the detailed bill
You may be in a rush, but give the detailed bill a careful look to see if the hotel charge is different from the rate you initially booked.
Don,t get angry
Shouting at the assistant manager standing behind the front desk probably won,t help when dealing with an unexpected item on the bill. Think about how difficult it can be to deal with annoyed customers. Keep calm and things may be solved(解决) better and sooner.

3 . How to protect your privacy when you travel
It hasn't been an easy year for the privacy of travelers,at least so far.Data leaks, surveillance(监视)worries and those troublesome cameras in airplane seatbacks and hotel rooms are enough to make passengers anxious.
Some homeowners renting their residences may install security cameras.Travelers should find out if the hosts are required to disclose the presence of surveillance devices. If the rental comes with cameras, ensure they aren't in a sensitive area by conducting a careful sweep
Although you can't control how a hotel or airline handles-or mishandles-your data, you can take reasonable steps to ensure the information it has won't get you into trouble.
But some of the worst data leaks happen when you're staying at a hotel. For example,a hotel clerk sometimes asks for your name and then announces your room number after you've checked in.You're better off handing the employee your ID when he or she asks for your name and asking the employee to write your room number on a piece of paper. Why?
A.It's never been better. |
B.Perhaps they should be. |
C.Travelers say they're taking privacy seriously. |
D.Never broadcast your journey on social media. |
E.There are other people on the other side of the wall. |
F.Some travelers only offer the bare minimum, such as a P.O.box instead of a home address. |
G.Report anything doubtful to the host immediately-and if you don't like what you hear, leave. |
4 . People who like travelling have their reasons. They believe that travelling can help them expand their field of view, especially in the geographical and historical sense. They also think that touring will give them more chances to enjoy different kinds of food and experience new things that would never be brought by other activities. But those who dislike travelling also have some reasons.
Travelling, in my opinion, does more good than harm. Most importantly, it broadens our mind. We can get in touch with other civilizations, cultures, customs and ideas.
Through history, most people travelled because of necessity (必要性)---not for pleasure. People travelled just in order to remain alive. They searched for food to eat or places to live in. They sometimes ran away from enemies. This is not to say that no one ever travelled just for the fun of it. In ancient times, for example, rich Romans travelled all the way to Greece to take part in the Olympic Games, and festivals. Of course, some people decided to travel just out of curiosity (好奇心). They wanted to find out what it looked like beyond the horizon (地平线). Also business travel has been going on for centuries. Traders could not only make money but also learn to speak several languages and be introduced to different cultures.
So, travelling does enrich our mind and draw new ideas to us. There is no doubt that we can get much from it.

6 . Look at the map of Spain and point at the center. You've located the country's capital and one of Europe's most beautiful cities: Madrid. This popular destination is considered a city of contrasts with its abundant historic sites, resting in the shadows of modern skyscrapers.
History
This city of over 3 million people is proud of Western Europe's largest royal palace, and some consider it to be Madrid's most beautiful building.
Inside the Royal Palace 2,800 rooms are decorated in glory with museum-quality furniture and artworks. Tourists can tour 50 of these large and splendid rooms.
Art
The Internationally respected Prado Museum is the largest and most impressive art gallery in Spain. Opened in 1819, it is filled with works of art that feature the world's most comprehensive collection of Spanish paintings.
Shopping
Madrid has some of Europe's best shopping, and potential buyers love to look through the stores looking for bargains. But for 500 years, shoppers have gathered to an extremely large outdoor flea market known as the Rastro where they find everything from antiques to CDs.
Entertainment
No trip to Madrid is complete without seeing a performance of Spain's famous art form, flamenco. Every day, flamenco performers sing, dance or play the guitar in small cafes and grand theaters alike.
Food
Madrid has a wide variety of restaurants, but because the Spanish typically eat late at about 9 or 10 p.m., it's difficult to find good dinner food earlier. If you get hungry before then, the best solution is to try a tapas bar where light snacks are served. Be sure to try the jamon, a kind of dry-cured ham: Spain is famous for it.

8 . Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was one of the most popular of modern artists. The Pompidou Centre in Paris is showing its respect and admiration for the artist and his powerful personality with an exhibition bringing together over 200 paintings, sculptures, drawings and more. Among the works and masterworks on exhibition the visitor will find the best pieces, most importantly The Persistence of Memory. There is also L’Enigme sans Fin from 1938, works on paper, objects, and projects for stage and screen and selected parts from television programmes reflecting the artist’s showman qualities.
The visitor will enter the World of Dali through an egg and is met with the beginning, the world of birth. The exhibition follows a path of time and subject with the visitor exiting through the brain.
The exhibition shows how Dali draws the viewer between two infinities (无限). “From the infinity small to the infinity large, contraction and expansion coming in and out of focus: amazing Flemish accuracy and the showy Baroque of old painting that he used in his museum-theatre in Figueras,” explains the Pompidou Centre.
The fine selection of the major works was done in close collaboration (合作) with the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain, and with contributions from other institutions like the Salvador Dali Museum in St. Petersburg.
