1 . Green architecture is designed in an environmentally-friendly way. Many people think interest in green architecture has only begun in recent years.     1    Our ancient ancestors were intelligent. They also knew the fact that green architecture is more able to fit in with nature and more practical.

    2     These include heating and cooling, water usage, environmental quality and energy usage. Architects can deal with all of these in various ways, all of which are designed to increase efficiency without affecting the function of the building.

To make it, much of green architecture focuses on building intelligently. For example, plumbing systems (管道系统) may be designed to use less water while still functioning normally.     3    

Many architects build environmentally to show people that it’s possible. And they want to show the fact that being environmentally-friendly does not have to make a building bad-looking.     4    A courtyard with plants, for example, can be nicer to view.

The green design can be kept in mind when we build various future buildings, ranging from a private home to a tall office building. Green designs can also be applied to remodeling (改造) and repairing existing buildings.     5     Many governments are thus encouraging remodeling and repairing instead of building new ones.

Bangkok is a highly desirable destination for food lovers. It has a seemingly bottomless well of dining options. Here are some suggestions on where to start your Bangkok eating adventure.

This place is good for a candle-lit dinner or a work meeting with colleagues who appreciate fine food. For those extremely hungry, there’s a large set menu.

Earning first place on the latest “Asia’s 50 best restaurants” list, progressive Indian restaurant Gaggan is one of the most exciting venues (场所) to arrive in Bangkok in recent years. The best table in this two-story colonial Thai home offers a window right into the kitchen, where you can see chef Gaggan and his staff in action. Culinary theater at its best.

6 . The night is completely black. But the darkness of a hill inside the crater of Indonesia’s Kawah Ijen Volcano is lit up like a holiday light show. Tourists gather at the volcano to see what look like glowing blue rivers of Java. But they aren’t rivers of lava. They’re rivers of glowing sulfur (硫磺).

Glowing red lava flowing from an erupting volcano isn’t unusual. Glowing sulfur is. Hot, sulfur-rich gases escape constantly from fumaroles (喷气孔) in Kawah Ijen’s crater. Scientists were told that sulfur miners on the volcano sometimes use torches to light the sulfur. The blue flames make Kawah Ijen popular with tourists. who watch from a safe distance.

Sulfur is common in volcanic gas, and it can be used to produce many things. But it’s so plentiful in Kawah Ijen’s crater that miners make a dangerous daily journey into the crater to collect sulfur from a fumarole. “The local people pipe the gases from the fumarole through pipes,” says scientist John Pallister. He has walked into the crater himself, wearing a gas mask for protection against the clouds of acid that rise from the lake. “They use water from a spring to cool the pipes,” he says. This causes gases to change into liquid sulfur. The sulfur then cools and hardens into rock. Using this method, miners get more usable rock faster than if they just collect pieces.

Miners face another hazard: a huge eruption. Kawah Ijen’s last big eruption was almost 200 years ago, but the volcano is still active. Indonesian scientists want to find a way to predict a big eruption in time to keep everyone safe. But the deep acid lake makes it difficult to pick up the usual signals that warn of a coming volcanic eruption.

For example, certain gases are usually richer right before an eruption. But in this lake, those gases disappear into the deep water before they can register on the geologists’ equipment.

As scientists search for ways to predict this unusual volcano’s behavior, Kawah Ijen’s blue fires continue to attract audiences who appreciate the volcano’s amazing glow.

7 . Four Unique U.S. National Parks

This national park is the site of the longest known cave system in the world,which is really proper for a park called “Mammoth(猛犸象).” It’s the ideal place for an adventure lover, with about 400 miles of caves and tunnels to explore. One of the most popular sections to visit within the caves is called Frozen Niagara, a special part of the caves that looks like a waterfall frozen in time.

Even though it’s one of the least-visited national parks in the country, it’s definitely one of the best national parks in Florida. There’s no accounting for Dry Tortugas National Park’s amazing beauty. Located about 70 miles from Key West, this park is made up of several islands that feature blue waters and white-sand beaches, colorful marine life, and the historic Fort(堡垒) Jefferson, one of the largest 19th-century forts in U.S. history.

If you’re looking for interesting red and pink rocks, you can’t do better than Bryce Canyon. The national park is known for its fascinating rock formations and hoodoos(石林), as well as its starry skies at night. Some of the best places to visit in the park are the Natural Bridge, Fairyland Canyon, or any of the scenic viewpoints throughout the park.

It’s the hottest and driest national park in the country, but it’s also a place of beautiful desert views and interesting natural phenomena, like the sailing stones on the Racetrack Playa. Depending on where you are in the park the climate can be extreme — it’s home to snowy mountains, dry desert, colorful flower fields, and cool lakes. You might also recognize it as the planet of Tatooine from the original Star Wars movies.
