To all the students

The New town School Sports Day this year will be held on Saturday, July 15 at the City Stadium from 10: 00 a. m. to 4: 00 p.m.

There will be the following events pills.

Each event will have four competitions. There will be one for girls, one for boys, one for older students and one for younger students

If you want to take part in any of the events, you should tell Mr. Wilson. He will be in the school gym from 3: 30 p. m to 4: 30 p. m. Monday—Friday next week.

All the students are required to come to the stadium on time. Teachers will put down the names at the stadium gate as students arrive. Students who don’ t take part in it must bring a letter from their parents to tell why.

I am on the road a lot for my job and have seen a lot of accidents.

One day. I was heading to a faraway (遥远的) town. I made my way around a curve (弯道) and went down a hill when l saw a car in my lane move into the other lane suddenly. It made the cars in the other lane slam their breaks. I return, the cars behind them stopped as well. Still, some of the cars hit each other and made accidents happen on the road.

After a while, things were almost cleaned up. All the cars drove away. Still, I saw a big rock in the road. I thought I’d move it to stop similar accidents from happening again. And just as I got out of my car to pick it up, I saw a man on the other side of the road running along the highway to pick up the same rock. The rock wasn’t in his lane (车道) and he still picked it up.

I guess it was just nice to see someone else go out of their way to do something for other people, knowing he wouldn’t get a thank you.

So thanks, man, whoever you are.

It is very difficult for animals to find food in cold winters because there is so much snow here and there. But the fox Linda doesn’t think so because she is very clever.

One early morning, Linda was looking for food for herself and her family. Just at that time, she saw a truck coming over. Because there was much snow on the road, the truck was moving very slowly. Linda thought maybe there was something to eat in the truck and then she decided to try her luck.

The fox went up to a higher place and there she saw a lot of baskets of fish in the truck. “How can I get onto the truck and take some fish?” asked Linda herself. After a few minutes, a good idea came to her. She began to run at a high speed. Soon she got to the road before the truck.

Then she lay down on the road and held her breath, waiting for the truck. When the truck was slowly coming down the road, the driver found Linda and he thought of it as a dead fox! Then the driver stopped the truck and got off. He picked up Linda and put her on the truck as quickly as he could. The driver started the truck again and thought happily about how to get some money by selling the fox. At the same time, Linda began to eat the fish happily. “How delicious the fish is! How clever I am!” the fox said.

After she had a very good and quick meal in the truck, Linda took a big fish with her and jumped off the truck.

You'd love our school library, Grandma. There are so many books for all kinds of subjects. The other day I found a book about science.     17    

I now study biology, it is really interesting. I'm learning all about the human body, where everything is and what it does.     18     I love biology. It's so interesting!

My other new subject is Spanish. It's really difficult to learn it.     19     Many people in Europe（欧洲）can understand Spanish. You know I always wanted to go to Europe, so if I can speak some Spanish it would be really useful.

Did you study these subjects when you were at school?     20    I'll come to visit you again in the next holiday, I think it's in eight weeks' time. I'll bring you some of my new books if you like. I hope you can write back soon and tell me all the village and family news. I miss you very much.
