Do you know what children did for fun in old times?
Although they didn’t have computers or mobile phones, children had lots of ways to have fun in ancient times. Some of the games are still played today, such as hide-and-seek. The game has always been played the same way: one child covers his or her eyes while other children hide, then, the child opens his or her eyes and looks for the “hiders”
During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), children would kick(踢) around a stone ball. People carved stones into palm sized(手掌大小的) balls and kicked them around. Children played with these stone balls during winter to stay warm.
Children could also see a “movie”-actually, a shadow play(皮影戏). Artists played with puppets(木偶) behind a screen and told stories along with music.
They also played with the diabolo(空竹). A diabolo was made of wood or bamboo and is empty in the center. By spinning(快速旋转) the diabolo with ropes(绳子), you can make a special sound. People still play with them these days.

Helen Keller is a famous writer. In 1903, she was 23 and wrote the book The Story of My Life. In the book, she talked about her life. Many people still like to read this book.
When Helen was nineteen months old, she was very sick and became deaf and blind.
