文章大意:本文主要介绍使用邮件的建议。

1 . For most of the twentieth century, people communicated by telephone or by letter. This is now changing, and e-mail is becoming the preferred way of communication. It’s faster than traditional one.     1     As e-mail is becoming popular, here are some rules we need to know.

Be polite and friendly.

Start your message with a greeting (问候). If you are writing to a friend, you can begin with “Hi Sandra.” If you are writing to your teacher, begin your message with “Dear Mr. Atonso.”     2     Many people just type their names. Others say Bye, Cheers, or use abbreviations (省略语) like BFN (bye for now).

Look good

When someone receives an e-mail message from you, they might not know anything about you.     3     So make yourself look good. Type your message, and then read it again. Sometimes sentences seem clear when you write them, but they don’t make sense when you read them back.

    4

If you start to use your e-mail several times a week, your message box will soon be filled with e-mails. After a few weeks, you can have a list of 60 or 70 messages. It is easy to delete the message you don’t want any more.     5     If you don’t know how to do that, just ask your friends for help. It only takes a few minutes to learn.

根据短文内容,将下面的句子还原到文中空白处,使短文内容完整、通顺。(选项中有一项是多余项)

A.If your messages are important, you can save them in folders (文件夹).
B.And it’s cheaper than a phone call.
C.They will judge (评判) you from your e-mail message.
D.You need a closing at the end of your e-mail.
E.Introduce yourself first.
F.Organize your e-mail.

6 . These days schools don’t allow students to bring mobile phones to schools. Many parents are worried. How can they connect with their kids? Well, smart watches may be the answer to their worries. Smart watches are like small computers. They usually tell time and count (计算)a person’s steps (步数). Most smart watches connect with smartphones and they let the users make calls, and send and receive messages. Often smart watches have microphones and speakers. Some even have cameras.

Many parents buy smart watches for their children because they are too young to have a mobile phone. They are less worried because they can call their children at any time through smart watches. Also, many smart watches have GPS trackers (追踪器). These trackers allow parents to know where their children are, so they know if everything is OK.

But now some groups in Europe say many smart watches are not as safe as what we think. Some watches allow more than parents to track where the children are. They also allow anyone to send the children a message. People can also control the watches from far away to watch and listen to the children. To be safe, any time a smart watch makes a call or sends a message or GPS information—the information should be processed (数据处理) so no one else can get the information.

8 . You might not pay much attention to whether the things you say on WeChat and other online messaging apps are recorded. But a regulation(规定)that went into effect on May 1 will make everything you say online usable against you in a court of law(法庭).

According to the Supreme People’s Court’s regulation, text messages emails and content posted on Websites or instant messaging platforms can be used as evidence(证据)in civil lawsuits(民事诉讼). The idea of digital evidence was first introduced as part of China’s Civil Procedure Law in 2012. However, the recent regulation has made it clearer.

“This is the first time the Supreme People’s Court has clarified(阐明)the scope(范围)of digital evidence, especially on social media platforms and messaging services,”Li Ya, a lawyer in Beijing, told China Daily.

The regulation was introduced to keep up with changes in social development. Social media activity has become a part of most people’s lives. Therefore, digital evidence is playing an increasingly important role in civil and criminal lawsuits.

According to the regulation, if people plan to use digital evidence in a lawsuit, they have to first prove that they use the app or website that evidence comes from. Second, they must prove a original and complete record of the evidence. For example, if you lend somebody money through WeChat, you must keep the original transfer records and conversations on the app.

9 . Many families share photos of their children on the Internet. Has your mom or dad ever posted a photo of you on the Internet that you didn’t want anyone outside your family to see? Usually, a parent will post almost 1, 000 photos of a child online before the child turns 5, according to a recent survey.

Parents often post photos on the Internet because they want to share their children’s important events and special moments with friends and family. Some parents do it as a way to communicate with other parents. They may be looking for health tips or other advice. Most parents don’t ask their children for permission(允许)before posting photos of them. They feel it is not necessary to ask their children first and they don’t think there will be any possible risk.

Some parents and child experts believe that kids older than 6 should be consulted. They say that photos can stay online for many years and that kids should have some control over their online presence(存在). Devorah Heitner, believes that parents should get their kids’ permission before posting their photos. “It teaches your child that his or her photo is his or her own,” she said.

What do you think? Should parents get their kids’ permission before posting photos of them online? Send your replies to tfkasks4you@timeforkids.com. Your reply may be printed in a future issue(期)of TIME For Kids.
