·Shanghai International Literary Festival

The literary event champion of Shanghai is back! Every type of author is set to appear at this year’s gathering, including legendary Chinese American writer Amy Tan (The Joy Luck Club and The Bonesetter’s Daughter), Internet business expert Duncan Clark (Alibaba: The House That Jack Ma Built), the Anthill founder Alec Ash (Wish Lanterns: Young Lives in New China) and many more. ·Vivienne Westwood

The iconic (人像的) fashion designer is the subject of this exhibition of Chinese modern art and environmental-friendly fashion inspired by Westwood’s strong attitude towards a climate revolution. Participating artists include Sun Xun, Wu Junyong and Zhang Ruyi.

·Dog Day Saturdays

On the first Saturday of the month, The Rooster (Jing’an) throws a backyard party where dogs are welcome. There will be free hot dogs. Flying Dog Beers and dog treats for the little buddies. Donations will also be collected for local animal rescue group, Best Friends China.

·Mom to Mom Sale

Sell or stock up on clothes, toys, books, strollers and other family goods at this twice-a-year market organized by Shanghai mothers. Sellers will contribute 15 percent of all their profit to the charity group, Heart to Heart.

I used to think education was the most important thing in my life. Recently my attitude has begun to change , although I still hold that it is a significance for everyone in the world today.   As a top senior school student, I was asked to make a speech on how to learn English well. Standing in front of the audience (观众）and face to so many freshmen , I was trembling, I didn’t remember any word that I had prepared. I ran out of the meeting room without finish my speech, leaving everyone puzzled . I cried that night in my room, feeling that I was a loser.

Studying takes up so much of my time that I feel unable to really develop myself. I just storing knowledge , yet I failed to communicate with others. I have received many prizes in school, but they don’t necessarily reflect anything about me. I don’t know how to socialize when I leave school. I fear I will be of no use to society.

Now I realized that everyone has his own way of living. I want to change my lifestyle. Of course I will keep studying . Yet I plan to look for a part-time job, which might turn out to be a good chance to get to know society. I still believe that working my hardest makes me happy. I   still stay in school. But I will not allow it to shelter me from the real world.

We all want to be successful in our work. But what happens when our success comes at the risk of losing important friendships?   If your friends didn't receive what they were hoping for， your success could make them feel uncomfortable．But does that mean we shouldn't enjoy our achievements in case we displease someone or that we should feel sorry for being successful while others aren't?

Those of us who value friendships might feel embarrassed for achieving more than our friends .But we deserve(应得)our success，and nothing should take it away. Jealousy (嫉妒) is only natural，but it's often unreasonable，too. Your success is probably not connected with your friends' progress，so you shouldn't feel bad about achieving your goals. If your friends stay unfriendly，don't be afraid to keep yourself away from them. You are not responsible for their weaknesses.

On the other hand，your friends may think highly of your recent success while hiding their real feelings. They could be jealous，angry or sad that they are not progressing at the same rate. So，be careful not to talk big.   It's a thin line between pride and overconfident，and by crossing the line，you may risk losing team support.

Next time you want to boast about your end­of year win，or high­class new office，consider your listeners. Maybe your friends narrowly missed out on a position raising，or experienced pay cuts which meant they didn't get what they were expecting. If your work is on a rising path，it doesn't mean that's the case for everyone.

Perhaps a step forward in your work has meant that you don't spend as much time with your friends as you used to. If you've changed a job. or moved to a new office，take the time to stay in touch with old friends. Don't let that hard work go to waste by losing touch with them.

Oh, how I wish you could see what I see now. I’m older, and life has made me wiser. Nothing is the way I thought it would be, it’s so much better.

When I look back, I see you as one person but I know there were two of you:one that the world saw and the secret one that only you knew. I remember the nights and days filled with worry, sadness, and confusion(困惑). I remember being both of you. I remember the smile I would show to my friends and then I remember the tears no one knew that I cried behind my closed bedroom door.

Oh, how I wish I knew that everything would be okay someday. But I probably wouldn’t have believed it at the time.

Oh, how I remember those teenager years as the most painful years of my life. Living under a microscope（显微镜），everything was enlarged ,you think that whatever happens will stay that way forever. In fact , Nothing is farther from the truth.

Ever heard of Marcel Proust? He had a particularly painful life, but when he came to the end of it, looking back, he felt that the most painful things in his life were the best things in his life, because they made him who he was.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. Your teenage years were the best suffering of your life. Those painful breakups, lonely nights, and tears cried are the times that will make you stronger, smarter and shape you become a determined adult in the future.
