文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。乌克兰基辅芭蕾舞团在法国巴黎进行巡回演出时,乌克兰突然爆发冲突,这让巡演舞者无处可去。

The Kyiv City Ballet danced to a full theater in Paris for the company’s last show of its French tour. The tour has left the dancers without a place to go after the war started in Ukraine. In other times, performing at the Théatre du Chatelet would be a dream come true for the dancers. But with the ongoing war in their country, the dancers feel only a deep sadness.

“We are both physically and emotionally exhausted.” Ekaterina Kozlova said. She is the company’s assistant director. “Everyone in the ballet is worried about their families, loved ones, friends, colleagues at home. It’s been very difficult.”

The Théatre du Chatelet, in the center of Paris, offered them the stage on Tuesday for the group’s final show of a French tour. The dance director of the Paris Opera and some members of her company joined the Ukrainians for a class before performing several ballet classics together. They danced parts of Russian composer Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and The Nutcrackery.

For many of the dancers, the chance to train and dance was a way to think about “something other than the conflict in Ukraine,” Kozlova said. One of the dancers will be going to the Ukrainian border in the coming days to pick up her young daughter who was taken out of the country. Only some members of the company were traveling around France. Many of the ballet’s best dancers stayed behind, waiting to join their friends after they reached Paris.

“Most of our artists are detained in Paris.” Director Ivan Kozlova told the Paris crowd. The city of Paris and the ballet community have helped find temporary housing for the Ukrainian dancers who say they hope to continue dancing in France and elsewhere. The Chatelet theater offered the whole group a residency. But for now, Tuesday’s last-minute performance was their last. All sales from their performances will go to nongovernmental organizations collecting and sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine and neighboring countries.

4. What would the dancers feel about performing at the Théatre du Chatelet before the war?
A.Pleased.B.Indifferent.
C.Sorrowful.D.Sympathetic.
5. What do we know about the Ukrainian dancers?
A.They would leave Paris soon.
B.They would prevent the conflict.
C.Many best dancers stayed in Paris.
D.Some would go to the Ukrainian border.
6. What does the underlined word “detained” in Paragraph 5 mean?
A.Arrested.B.Stuck.C.Promoted.D.Educated.
7. Which of the following words can best describe the dancers?
A.Enthusiastic and kind.B.Generous and professional.
C.Cooperative and ambitious.D.Courageous and calm.

文章大意:这是一篇新闻报道。本文主要介绍了中国神舟13号宇宙飞船任务圆满结束,三名宇航员安全返回地球的事情。

The Chinese Shenzhou-13 spacecraft and its crew of three taikonauts ended their six-month mission with a return to Earth on Saturday, 16 April after completing the first long-duration stay aboard the Chinese Space Station.

The astronauts performed two spacewalks, conducted more than 20 different science experiments and delivered two live educational lectures in space, the report said. Leading China’s most recent human spaceflight was Zhai Zhigang, a major general in the People’s Liberation Army and an experienced taikonaut, having joined the Chinese human spaceflight program in 1998 and becoming the first Chinese person to conduct a spacewalk during the Shenzhou-7 mission in September 2008.

Female taikonaut and People’s Liberation Army Air Force colonel Wang Yaping also has experience within the Shenzhou program. She became the second Chinese woman to fly to space when she flew on Shenzhou-10 in June 2013, and now holds the distinction of being the first Chinese woman ever to conduct a spacewalk.

Ye Guangfu, a PLAAF pilot, was the only Shenzhou-13 crew member who was a first-time flier. He was selected to join the taikonaut corps (兵团) alongside Wang Yaping in 2010, serving as a backup crew member for the Shenzhou-12 mission that launched in June 2021.

The mission marks that China has completed the verification (验证) of key technologies of its space station, and also sets a record for Chinese astronauts’ duration in orbit, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

Calling the success of the astronauts a major win for China’s space exploration program, Cavince Adhere, a Kenya-based international relations scholar, pointed out that as a major developing country, China’s stride in space science is an inspiration to the developing country.

By building its own space station, China will expand its scientific reach, Adhere said, adding that China’s space exploration program is also open to other developing countries. For example, Beijing is working with African countries across a range of space exploration themes, the scholar noted. “Such exchange programs have significantly boosted capacity for space development programs on the continent.”

Saying the mission is “definitely a success,” Brad Tucker, an astrophysicist and cosmologist at the Australian National University, told Xinhua that it is “important to move forward with a long-term space station and full operation.”

This mission has shown that China’s astronauts “are capable of long-term space flight, which makes Earth’s future goals and plans for the Moon and beyond exciting,” Tucker said.

8. What do we know about the three astronauts?

D.These astronauts set a record for Chinese astronauts in orbit for more than 6 months.
9. What’s the purpose of Shenzhou-13?
A.to set up a space station.B.to explore new settlement for human.
C.to study how the astronauts live in space.D.to test some key technologies of China’s space station.
10. What’s Tucker’s attitude to the success of Shenzhou-13?
A.meaningfulB.cautiousC.ambiguousD.critical
11. What would be the best title for the text?
A.China has Launched another Spacecraft Shenzhou-13

文章大意:本文为一篇说明文,介绍了元宇宙的概念、由来以及运用。

Imagine that one day you live in a highly immersive (身临其境) virtual world. You can go to a virtual concert, take a trip online, view or create artworks and try on or buy digital clothing. Amid a pandemic like COVID-19, instead of seeing teachers and classmates on a video call screen, you could join them in a virtual classroom. This may help you understand the concept—metaverse.

The term metaverse (元宇宙) refers to a shared virtual 3D world in which people can access via the Internet. Currently, most virtual spaces look more like the inside of a video game than real life. However, metaverse’s made the digital spaces more realistic by the use of virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR增强现实).

Metaverse was first used in Neal Stephenson’s novel Snow Crash in 1992. The novel is about Hiro, a pizza delivery man by day and a VR superhero by night who lives in an online universe called The Metaverse. “He is in a computer-generated universe that his computer is drawing onto his glasses and pulling into his earphones,” the novel says of the city that everyone pops into in VR. The idea rings in many other works, for example, in Ready Player One directed by Steven Spielberg.

Recently, Facebook has changed its corporate name to Meta. The company said it would better include what it does, as it broadens its reach beyond social media into areas like virtual reality (VR). The CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the existing brand could not possibly represent everything that they’re doing today, let alone in the future. He also revealed that Facebook had launched meeting software for companies, called Horizon Workrooms, to use with VR headsets. The headsets cost $300 or more, putting the metaverse’s most cutting-edge (尖端的) experiences out of reach for many. For users who can afford it, they can enter the virtual worlds created by different companies. Fans of metaverse see it as the next stage in the development of the Internet. So, do you expect the coming of metaverse?

12. What can we know about metaverse?
A.It is a video game like real life.B.It is a parallel universe imagined by scientists.
C.It gives us a vivid life in a virtual world.D.It can protect yourself from a pandemic.
13. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about?
A.The fiction Snow Crash.B.The origin of metaverse.
C.A VR superhero.D.The film Ready Player One.
14. Why has Facebook changed its corporate name?
A.To lead the gaming industry.B.To cover its extended business.
C.To improve its corporate image.D.To attract investment for its new plans.
15. What can we know from the text about VR headsets?
A.They are very cheap for most of us.B.Their users can experience a virtual world.
C.Horizon Workroom don’t need them at all.D.They will bring us into the final stage of the Internet.
