With many Chicken Soup for the Soul books in development, we are always looking for new talent. So whether you are a regular contributor or new to our family, please share your stories with
Here is the recipe for submission(提交).
Story Guidelines
*Tell a heartwarming story about something that has happened to you.
*The story should start “in the action” and draw in the reader. Do not start your story with an introduction about what you are going to say.
*Don’t try fancy moves with tenses. Writing in the present tense about something that happened in the past rarely works.
*Keep your story within 1200 words. Tighten!
Tips about submitting
The only way to submit your stories is to do it on our website. A message, “Thank you! Your information has been received”, is the only confirmation of your submission. There is no email from us. If you have any problems, please write to: webmasterchickensoupforthesoul. com.
There are many topics in each of our books. If you have a story that you think fits two of the topics, you may submit it to both. Also, there is no limit to the number of stories you may submit for each book.
After publication
If your story is selected to be published, you will be asked to sign our standard permission release agreement. This means that you maintain ownership of your story but you give us the rights to publish it and use it again in any future book or our other products.
After your story is published, you will receive ten free copies of the book your story appears in. You will be entitled to buy cases of your books at half price. You will also receive our monthly newsletter with advance notice of new books.

Like everybody else, I was addicted to my devices. When realizing its harm, I decided to make “I’m doing Tech-Free Sundays now!” I told my mother, on the Saturday night before my no-tech journey started. “Oh,” she said. “So are you giving up, like, the wheel?” I defined my terms. No: computer, phone, iPad. No: email, Twitter, Instagram. Yes: wheels, modern medicine.
But when I woke up in the morning, I failed. The problem was my work: I needed to meet a deadline. I thought I could just use the computer for work, and wouldn’t check Twitter. And I didn’t, for many hours. And then I did. It was right there! And though I checked it very briefly, just in case anyone was mad at me, the spell (咒语) was broken.
But the beautiful thing about Sundays is that there is always another one. The next week, I changed my approach: no tech, at all. This time, I was prepared. On Saturday, I made a list of everything I wanted to accomplish over the weekend, and then worked my way through all the parts that require technology. And then I put my phone down, and when I woke up on Tech-Free Sunday, I did not pick it up again.
Instead, I finish a book — one with paper! Do you know how pleasurable it is to read a book by touching it? It is a delight, like petting a literary cat. However, the trouble came when I went to meet a friend. I was running late, but had no way to tell her because my phone was at home.
Was I relaxed on such a Sunday? It was an unfamiliar feeling, but I was. I felt a sense of control over my life. But because life is nothing if not a learning process, the next weekend, I told everyone who might need to get in touch with me that I would not be reachable on Sunday.
4. What can we infer from paragraph2?A.The author wouldn’t refuse all modern technology. |
B.The author wouldn’t drive on Tech-Free Sundays. |
C.The author’s mother didn’t agree with her decision. |
D.The author’s mother wasn’t familiar with technological terms. |
A.Because she got her computer checked. | B.Because the computer was so attractive. |
C.Because others disturbed her online. | D.Because her work met a deadline. |
A.Disappointed. | B.Tired. | C.Satisfied. | D.Hesitant. |
A.I Realized the Harm of Devices | B.I Tried Going Tech-Free on Sundays |
C.Being Addicted to Devices Is Harmful | D.”Tech-Free Sundays“ Become Popular |
America has more than enough food for everyone to eat. But each year, billions of pounds of perfectly good food go to waste. Meanwhile, 34 million face hunger in the United States. As the country’s largest food rescue organization, Feeding America partners with food manufacturers, grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers to rescue food and deliver it to food banks serving our neighbors.
Each year, 108 billion pounds of food is wasted in the United States. That equates 130 billion meals and more than $408 billion in food thrown away each year. Shockingly, nearly 40% of all food in America is wasted.
Food goes to waste at every stage of food production and distribution — from farmers to packers and shippers, from manufacturers to retailers to our homes. Food waste in our homes makes up about 39% of all food waste — about 42 billion pounds of food waste, and commercial food waste makes up about 61% of all food waste or 66 billion pounds of food waste. Feeding America focuses on reducing food waste on farms and in food service, manufacturing, and retail. Last year, the Feeding America network and our partners rescued 4. 7 billion pounds of groceries. That food went directly to meals for people facing hunger. This makes Feeding America the largest food rescue organization in the country.
Food rescue, or food recovery, is the practice of collecting high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste and distributing it to people facing hunger. We work with manufacturers, retailers, and farmers to reduce food waste and get rescued food to people in need. We identify food at the risk of going to waste, offer rescued food to food banks, safely ship food over long distances and keep food fresh longer once it reaches a food bank.
8. What is the present situation of the food in America?A.It is barely enough. | B.It is increasingly insufficient. |
C.It is quite abundant. | D.It is easily available. |
A.Delivery. | B.Collection. | C.Waste. | D.Reduction. |
A.By making comparisons. | B.By presenting data. |
C.By listing reasons. | D.By offering examples. |
A.It teaches people how to grow food. | B.It urges government to take action. |
C.It helps to relieve world hunger. | D.It saves food from being wasted. |
Sports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are in the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should be aware that your choice of sport might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses(球场)in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often responsible for serious water shortages in some local areas.
There are many environment-friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don’t need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes, and you don’t have to worry about resources and your purse. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be ”green gyms“. They are better replacements for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it’s free.
12. Which of the following is the author most probably in favor of?A.Playing basketball in a gym. | B.Motor racing in the desert. |
C.Cycling around a lake. | D.Swimming in a sports center. |
A.Golf is popular in Portugal and Spain. |
B.Golf causes water shortages around the world. |
C.Golf pollutes the earth with chemicals and wastes. |
D.Golf needs water and electricity to keep its courses. |
A.Because it is an outdoor sport. | B.Because it uses fewer resources. |
C.Because it improves our health. | D.Because it is recommended by experts. |
A.To encourage us to go in for green sports. |
B.To show us the function of major sports. |
C.To discuss the major influence of popular sports. |
D.To introduce different types of environment-friendly sports. |
