Bath

Founded by the Romans, who used the area’s springs to create a spa retreat（水疗中心）, Bath’s now the best tourist attraction of Southwest England. Visitors never miss the Roman Bath Complex, which is divided into four main parts—the Bath House, the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple and the museum, which displays fascinating finds from the historical ruins of the city.

In an effort to avoid a coming storm, Ronnie Stewart and Krystal Stewart were running to their car in the parking lot of Refuge Church when they noticed two young homeless boys with their parents on the sidewalk. The Stewarts approached the boys’ parents asking to take them home for a night for a bath and warm bed. They didn’t know what their response would be, but as it turned out, they were thrilled.

The Stewarts took the two boys, who are 1 and 2 years old, home, where they slept for over a straight 10 hours.

“I don’t think they’ve ever slept in a bed before,” Krystal said.

The next day, the Stewarts gave the parents their phone numbers and told them to call if they ever wanted the boys to have a warm bed.

It wasn’t long before the Stewarts headed to pick the boys up after receiving a call from their parents at midnight.

They brought them back the next morning and a few hours later, they were greeted by the Department of Social Services and police officers, who had been discussing living arrangements for the boys with their parents.

“They asked if we could take them in. Next thing I knew, the boys were in my backseat with my kids on their way home with us. They may not have known at that time, but our three kids were already calling the two young boys their brothers,” Krystal said.

A few days later, the Stewarts sat down with two social workers and the boys’ parents. They had many choices to choose from, but felt strongly about wanting the boys to join the Stewarts’ family.

The agreement has been signed and adoption procedure（程序）should be finished before long.

Besides, do not forget the long-term effects of your choice when meeting a sales promotion. Short-term benefits, like excited feeling just after buying items encourage impulsive buying. But the long-term costs such as waste of money and the sense of shame really annoy you. When seeing the advertisements, remember what you really want to buy originally and warn yourself of that terrible feeling. Only in this way can you save money for really needed things.

In the world today, hunger is still the biggest threat to health. Hunger holds back children’s growth and their dreams. Around 67 million of the world’s hungriest children do not attend school.     31     Even if they do make it into the classroom, hunger will affect their ability to learn.

Mary’s Meals is a Scottish charity that was started in 1992.     32     It sets up school feeding projects in some of the world’s poorest countries. The charity provides one daily meal in schools to attract hungry children to the classroom, where they receive education to get out of poverty. Thanks to the supporters and volunteers around the world, Mary’s Meals is now providing life-changing meals to 1,257,278 poorest children in 15 countries.

UN Chinese Language Day     56     (celebrate) yearly on April 20. This year, Doreen Hynd was among those invitees, who are either experts on the Chinese culture     57     have a special skill related to it.

Hynd astonished all those present while performing Tai Chi,     58     Chinese martial (武术的) art form, at an event held by the UN Tai Chi Club. The audience could hardly believe she was a 93-year-old grandma. 67. Last weekend, I went to Mark’s new house nearby a forest for a little get-together. After lunch when I was chatting with him and his wife Cody, he asked me, “Hey Thoran, have you ever been to a secret spot?” Before I could even finish saying no, Cody and Mark were already at the door with their jackets on. And the next moment we were heading out into the forest with a camera, a fishing net and a plastic bucket (桶).

We walked through the forest along a path by a small river. Breathing the fresh air, we three talked and laughed all the way.

“Hey! What are you guys doing?” Someone suddenly shouted from behind. Mark and Cody’s eyes immediately widened, and without a word they started running. I had no choice but to follow them, getting my shoes wet and dirty with mud. We probably ran for about 10 minutes before Mark and Cody slowed down. I stopped to catch my breath and asked, “Who was that?”

Mark replied, “The most annoying neighbor ever. If he caught up with us, there’s no telling what could happen. He is always making fun of us. I dislike him.” We kept walking on for a few more minutes. Then a beautiful lake appeared before our eyes. “Wow! Amazing!” I shouted and could hardly hold back my excitement. The lake was large and the water was deep and blue, looking so peaceful with tall trees around it.
