As a child, reading was one of my favorite     1     (hobby), and it still is to this day. I've always enjoyed immersing (使沉浸于) myself in the pages of a novel, entirely attracted by fictional characters and     2     (they) stories. One part of the experience that almost always made me feel    3     (disappoint), however, was when my beloved books became movies. And according       4     a recent survey, I'm not the only person who is let down by book adaptations.

SuperSummary, an online resource, wanted     5     (know) the answer to a burning question: Book or movie? The company asked 2,030 people, ages 23 to 62, to answer questions about books    6     had been turned into movies or TV shows.

The results were fairly close. Overall, 34% of people enjoyed the book,       7    (compare) to 27% of people who liked the movie more. Although 82% of people said “screen adaptations help books come to life,” 46% of people argued that movie adaptations “would never be as good     8     the book.”

Perhaps the slight preference for the book over the movie is related to libraries being a little     9     (popular) than movie theaters. I     10     (complete) understand why people might prefer watching a live version of a story on the big screen, but to me, there are few simpler pleasures than getting lost in the pages of a good book.

Beijing film festival announces winners of Tiantan awards, and director Long Fei receives the Best Feature Film award for Gold or Shit.

The 14th Beijing International Film Festival was held     1     Friday night, announcing the winners of its top honor, the Tiantan Award, during     2     (it) closing ceremony.

Among the three Chinese films nominated in the final     3     (select), director Long Fei’s Gold or Shit, a comedy describing a down-and-out man’s unwelcomed return to his hometown,     4     (sweep) three awards: Best Feature Film, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay.

Director Long said,     5     (actual), he had felt stressed before finishing shooting, but now he was greatly     6     (encourage) after receiving such an honor. Huang Jia, the scriptwriter of Gold or Shit, shared     7     interesting behind-the-scenes story, telling the experiences of raising money, being advised to cast non-famous performers, but later being surprised     8     (learn) investors (投资方) had convinced stars Hu Ge and Gao Yuanyuan to play the     9     (lead) characters.

The movie marks actor Hu’s first attempt into comedy after two decades in the acting industry. Hu quoted a line from the film, where a character says “It’s always shining if it’s gold”, to express his excitement about the movie,     10     overcame many obstacles as the script came to life.
