Today I’d like to introduce you to Chinese knots. In China, it is a long history of using knots for decoration. Culturally they are expected to keeping off evil spirits. Associated with symbolic meanings, knots are also used gifts.

One major characteristic of decorative knotwork is that all the knots is tied by using one piece of thread, which is usually about one meter in the length. However, finishing knots look the same from both the front or back. They can come in a variety of color, though the most common used color is red. This is why it symbolizes good luck and prosperity.

Tea has a long history in China, dated back to 5, 000 years ago.

Obvious, it plays a important part in Chinese culture. A good many of distinguished poets and writers had written many masterpieces about the appreciate of tea and the love for it, among them was Lu Yu in the Tang dynasty. He wrote The Classic of Tea, the first book on tea,but he was regarded as the “Tea Saint(圣人)”.

Chinese people take delight in tea-drinking. It served almost everywhere. Whenever guest visit, offering a cup of tea to them is a basic social custom. Tea is part of Chinese people’s daily life.

When I was an little boy, I was always looking forward the dinner on the eve of the Spring Festival. It was not only for the delicious food that we seldom got to eat, and also for the opportunity to had our whole family together. I was used to run around the house, listening to the adult chatting about their passing year. I’d follow my mother to the kitchen, watching she making dumplings. She’d put coins or candies in some dumplings. In the evening, all of us would sit around the table, enjoying the food happy together. The homemade dishes tasted most delicious than anything cooking by a tip cook.
