【推荐2】The Beloved Community in Denver is the city’s first tiny home village for the homeless. The village provides shelter for up to 22 residents. It     1    (found) by community partners, private donors(捐赠人)and various organizations.

The village,     2    will begin the 180-day pilot project this year, is to provide meals, a shower house, portable toilets and a couple of gardens. The self-governed village will help to develop    3    sense of self-esteem(自尊)and communal(集体的)living for people who have long lived on the edge of society.

Denver Homeless Outloud aims to build two more villages by the spring of 2018,     4    (provide)housing for a total of 300 homeless people    5    all over the city. The residents will be able to feel part of a community, get back their confidence     6    feel at home in a safe environment.

49-year-old Jamiah Rawls thinks the town should inspire the homeless     7     (feel)better. “The village should be     8     (comfort) to live in, so that they can feel confident enough and pull     9    (they)up gradually. And the system needs to give them some assistance so they can live on their own.”

The village will offer residents their    10    (free) and a space, where they can rediscover their goals.

When 5-year-old A.J. Troiano from Bedford, New Hampshire, learned about Hurricane Harvey from his parents and grandparents,     1     showed him photos of the floods and explained what people in Texas—particularly the children—were going through and everything they had lost, he knew he had to do something about it. So A.J. announced he     2     (walk) around his block five     3     (time). Accompanied by his loving grandparents, of course, he made it for a total of two miles     4     (raise) money for the American Red Cross to support those who     5     (affect) by the hurricane.

He made a poster to show his cause and couldn’t wait to get started on his walk     6     next day when he arrived home     7     kindergarten. As he walked around the block, A.J.’s neighbors friends, and family came up and asked what he was doing, and he was     8     (pleasant) surprised when they started to join in and donate to the cause. He finished the walk, running fast home, with the total of $200 he raised. “I hope it is just the     9     (begin) for him in understanding on how one person can really make a     10     (different),” said A.J. ‘s grandmother, Kathy Ladd.
