As a traditional cultural art form of the Chinese nation, Kunqu Opera is one of the most    1    (influence) traditional Chinese operas and also a rare art treasure in the opera family. The opera that is said    2    (be) the mother of all Chinese operas has a pretty long history. It    3    (date) back to the late Yuan Dynasty — over 600 years ago. Kunshan, near the city of Suzhou in today's Jiangsu Province of East China, is    4    birthplace of this type of opera.

Kunqu Opera is    5    (general) acknowledged as an elegant opera in terms of music, recitation, and the performers' beautiful    6    (move). Carrying forward the tradition of ancient poetry and common speech, the art is also    7    very high literary value

However, appealing    8    Kunqu Opera is, the use of a southern dialect (方言) puts the opera out of reach for most people. But that didn't prevent the UNESCO from    9    (list) it as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" in 2001. Since then, the traditional performing art has experienced a rebirth. Four classical plays, including The Peony Pavilion,    10    (update) and restored in the past few years.

Public attention will often be focused on the collective stories of soldiers on the anniversary (纪念日), which     1     (fall) on July 27, marking the end of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea(1950—1953).

However, this year,     2     new documentary (纪录片), Searching Beyond Time and Space, tries to view history     3     (different)—to go beyond the collective and uncover the thoughts of individual soldiers, and find out if they have any regrets or unrealized     4     (wish) at the end of their lives. Moreover, the production unit, by using virtual reality technology, offers the old soldiers an opportunity to go back to moments in the past and address those regrets in the virtual world.

For instance, Tian Wei, a 90-year-old CPV soldier, returned to China in 1954 and learned that his comrade-in-arms (战友) Wei Jiamin,     5     he saved on the battlefield, had sent his family money to help him care for his parents. Tian had been sincerely desiring to express his gratitude to Wei face     6     face until Wei passed away.
