Yesterday, I went to an amazing Chinese art Festival. There were different stands     1     artists could demonstrate their skills and teach the visitors! It was definitely     2     exciting experience for a foreign student like me.

What     3     (catch) my attention first was the 15th-century qinghua bowl in the breathtaking exhibition of Chinese porcelain. It     4     (vivid) illustrated a dragon playing with a ball.

Then I tried some paper cutting, that is, making images out of paper. It was difficult, but a lot of fun! With the help of the artist, I managed     5     (make) one in the shape of a fish. Meanwhile, a woman at the next stand was using a needle and some thread to do some embroidery. It looked so pretty! Then I went into a section decorated like a     6     (tradition) Chinese study, with two beautiful Chinese paintings of a pine tree and some bamboo hung on the walls.

There was also an old man     7     (write) Chinese calligraphy, which was so free and elegant! Another man sitting next to him showed me how seal cutting works. Chinese     8     (character) are carved into small squares of stone and stamped onto paper with ink. He made one for me with my name     9     Chinese—pretty awesome!

I also came away with a beautifully embroidered handkerchief made of soft cotton fabric and a porcelain cup and saucer (茶托)     10     (paint) in wonderful shades of blue.

Late on Sunday night in a remote mountain village in southwest China’s Yunnan Province, a crowd burst into applause because their native tea forests lands     1     (record) on the World Heritage Site list at the 45th session of UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee.     2     they had heard cheered them up, so people from multiple ethnic groups     3     (dress) in traditional clothing joined a celebratory bonfire (篝火) on Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er City, Yunnan.

The Cultural Landscape of Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er became China’s 57th entry on the World Heritage Site list,     4     is also the first World Heritage Site with the theme of tea. The landscape is mainly centered on     5     ancient ways of planting and preserving the old tea forests.

Based     6     long-term practices, local people developed an under-story growing (林下种植) technique     7     (create) ideal light conditions for the growing of tea trees through limited under-story growing. Meanwhile, it prevents insects     8     (eat) plants through the well-preserved forest ecosystem, so as to produce organic tea leaves without the     9     (apply) of pesticides (杀虫剂) and chemical fertilizers.

This land-use system represents a     10     (absolute) extraordinary example of a human communication by Bulang and Dai peoples in a challenging environment.
