According to UNESCO, deep in the sea     1     (lie) a great number of valuable relics—around 3 million boats, many cities and thousands of human relics. Today, these relics of human heritage are suffering serious damage from commercial and industrial exploitation (开发), making     2     (they) protection even more urgent.

    3     (protect) and inherit (传承) our hard-to-notice yet still important underwater cultural heritage, the National Base of Underwater Archaeology for the South China Sea     4     (launch) by China’s National Cultural Heritage Administration in Feb, 2023.

The base is planned to cover     5     area of 74 mu and a total construction area of 31,085 square meters. It is expected to perform various     6     (function), including underwater cultural heritage surveys and protection measures, cultural heritage repair and archaeologist training, according to the administration.

Li Qun, vice-minister of culture and tourism, told Xinhua     7     the South China Sea is the     8     (large) in scale and richest in underwater cultural heritage among China’s waters and is an important area of the Maritime Silk Road.

Building the base is an important step toward strengthening the country’s underwater cultural heritage protection work and is     9     great importance in passing on traditional Chinese culture and     10     (safeguard) China’s sovereignty (主权), security and maritime rights, Li added.

The Ming City Wall Ruins Park, one of the best parks in Beijing,     1     (locate) in the central area of Beijing from Chongwenmen East Street to Dongbianmen.     2     (cover) a total area of about 15.5 hectares, the park     3     (consist) of 3.3 hectares of city wall ruins and the southeast corner tower, and 12.2 hectares of green space.

The Ming Dynasty City Wall from Dongbianmen to Chongwenmen is one of the only two remaining Ming Dynasty City Walls in Beijing.     4     (historic), the Ming Dynasty City Wall is 25 kilometers long and was first built in the 17th year of the Yongle Period of the Ming Dynasty (1419 AD), and has     5     history of over 580 years. The Bell Tower in Xian, has a history of over 600 years and reopened to the public after renovation (整修).

The Bell Tower     1    (build) in 1384 during the Ming Dynasty. The 36-meter-tall, wood-and-brick structure is known as one of the     2    (large) and best-protected bell towers in China. The tower has witnessed the city's changes and development for     3     (century).

“Due to long-time exposure     4    wind, sunlight, rain and dust, the tower became broken,with its roof leaking and some paint     5     (drop).” Wang Lei, curator (馆长) of Xian Bell and Drum Towers Museum said. To prolong the life of the tower, the museum began to repair     6     (it) roof and outer golden columns in June.

The reopening of the Bell Tower has attracted visitors     7     come from home and abroad.     8    (visit) by more than 1,000 tourists on the opening day, it had attracted twice the number of visitors before its repair. On an early August morning, craftsman Zhang Xi drove his car quickly along a winding mountain road in Longquan, Zhejiang province,    1    (hope) to reach his destination—a century-old kiln (窑) —as soon as possible,    2    hundreds of pieces of pottery (陶器) that had been given their final celadon glaze (青釉) were finally ready.

Their colors usually fall in the spectrum (色谱) between lavender gray and plum green. However, sometimes they end up being brown or yellow.
