We visited the temple on New Year’s morning to pay respects     6     our ancestors. We worked very hard in the weeks     7     (lead) up to the event.

This morning, a     8     (cheer) lion dance troupe (剧团) drove slowly past my local wet market. Old folks and their grandchildren stuck out their heads from windows,     9     (watch) the performance. It is this community spirit     10     makes Chinese New Year what it is.
