Talking to someone on a train, bus, or subway can be risky yet exciting, as you never know when they’re going to get off. Starting a connection can be fun as the costs are fairly low and you can easily start and stop a conversation, or get off if things become awkward.     1

Make eye contact. Making brief eye contact can show the persons that you’re interested and help you judge whether they are interested in you. Glance at the persons and try to hold your gaze (注视) for just a second or two.    2    If they meet your gaze, it’s likely positive. If they look away quickly or appear disinterested, it’s probably best not to approach.

Smile at the persons. If you’ve successfully met their gaze, smile at them.

3    If they smile back, you’re likely in luck in getting them to talk to you.

If you want to start a conversation with the persons, smiling is a great way to get somebody’s attention.

4    Make a point to appear open, comfortable and available. Do this by keeping your arms uncrossed. Stand or sit up straight and show good posture (姿势). Don’t cross your body or turn away from the persons, as these gestures can make you appear closed off or disinterested.

Approach the persons to start talking to them.     5    If you’re far away, move closer. You should be a comfortable distance where you can hear each other yet not feel awkward if the conversation doesn’t work out.

A.Use open body language.
B.Mind your manners while talking.
C.Notice how they respond to your gaze.
D.Don’t worry because you can follow some tips that make you smile.
E.Once you’ve read that the persons are interested in chatting, make a move.
F.A small but sincere smile makes you appear interested, friendly and approachable.
G.Therefore, try to get someone’s attention and start a conversation by following the tips.

【推荐2】Most people follow others blindly just under the effect of peer (同辈) pressure or because they feel it safe to follow a large number of people. In some rare cases it might be right to follow the crowd, but in most cases this can be a big mistake. Actually there are reasons why we shouldn’t follow the crowd blindly.

According to a study, people often follow the crowd when they aren’t sure about the direction they should take. This means a large number of people could be following others without understanding what’s right and what’s wrong! This makes more people follow and as a result most people move in a certain direction even if it isn’t right.

A man who wants to be successful always hopes for others’ guidance and he usually follows the same path of most people, but the question this man never asks himself is: Are all of those people successful? Of course not! If you want to follow a crowd, then follow a successful one. However, in real life you’ll only find one successful person among hundreds of people, and that’s why following the crowd makes no sense at all.

Most people act emotionally without thinking wisely. If you always follow others because they’re greater than you in number, then sooner or later you’ll discover that you’re taking emotional decisions you might regret later.

However, should we never follow the crowd? No. I’m not trying to say you should never follow the crowd, but instead I’m just asking you to think wisely before you take a decision. If you find others are right, there is no problem in following them, but if you have doubts about the direction they’re moving in, don’t follow them blindly.

【推荐3】There's been increased attention on this in recent weeks, with the unsettling spread of the coronavirus around the world. When a video of Naomi Campbell cleaning her airplane seat and wearing a mask and gloves was shared online last year, it made the rounds because her behavior seemed exaggerated. “     1     And we know that germs can live on surfaces for a long time, so it doesn't hurt to clean it," said Aaron Milstone, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Here are some tips for cleaning your area of a plane and keeping healthy on a flight.

Keep your hands clean and stop touching your face

"Wiping down surfaces on a plane won't hurt, as long as it doesn't give you a false sense of security,” Andrew Mehle, associate professor of medical microbiology said, stressing that cleaning your space on a plane should be done in conjunction with washing hands and following other best practices. Good habits are not easily formed.     2     Doing so after touching a surface where droplets from when someone sneezed or coughed can lead to the virus being passed on.

    3

A study from Emory University found that during flu season, the safest place to sit on a plane is by a window. Researchers studied passengers and crew members on 10 three-to-five-hour flights and observed that people sitting in window seats had less contact with potentially sick people.

Disinfect hard surfaces

When you get to your seat and your hands are clean, use disinfecting wipes to clean the hard surfaces at your seat like the head and arm rest, the seatbelt buckle(带扣), the remote, screen, seat back pocket and the tray table. If the seat is hard and nonporous (无孔的)or leather, you can wipe that down too.     4    In addition, pay attention to your disinfecting wipes, which would typically say on the packaging how long asurface needs to stay wet in order for them to work.    5     In order for the wipes to work, you need to follow those time requirements.

A.Choose a window seat.
B.A window seat is the best option.
C.The airplane and airplane seat is a public space.
D.Good habits are essential in this particular time.
E.That time can range from 30 seconds to a few minutes.
F.Most people tend to touch their faces more often than they realize.
G.However, using wipes on cushions could lead to a wet scat and spreading of germs.
