Two stone horse reliefs (浮雕) in the Asian Collection of the Pennsylvania Museum are considered to be among the most important examples of Chinese sculpture outside of China. Originally they     1     (attach) to Zhaoling, the tomb of Emperor’ Taizong, the second ruler of the Tang Dynasty. Mount Jiuzong was close to present Xi’an, thus     2     (serve) as the site for Zhaoling. The six horse reliefs on both wings of Zhaoling are the most well-known. Two reliefs are at the Pennsylvania Museum, the other four     3     (lay) in the Stele Forest (碑林) Museum in Xi’an. Each describes an actual horse in a battle that helped the Emperor unite China.
