Full job description:
Under the direct guidance of a licensed teacher, the instructional assistant will deal with students during break time, in the classroom and perform other duties as assigned. Possible assignments could include one-on-one student assistance, special education classroom or general education classrooms for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Duties are at all schools in the district and assignments may be different each day.
Special requirements:
1. Must have the ability to work harmoniously with teachers, students, and other staff
2. Must have the ability to take direction appropriately, changing tasks as necessary
3. Must have 72 credit hours of post-high school studies, earned an Associate’s Degree or higher or passed the WorkKeys test
4. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality
5. Experience working with school-age students preferred, but not required
6. Bilingual (双语的) in Spanish desired, but not required
When you come to registration you will need to bring the following:
1. Current Passport or Driver License and Social Security Card or Birth Certificate
2. Copy of post-high school transcript (成绩单) showing 72 credit hours or the Associate’s Degree or above or copy of the WorkKeys completion certificate
Applicants are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal record check at their own expense (presently $12.50).
This position is 5.5 hours per day;181 days per years.

The Chinese Host Family Program
The purpose of this program is to help our American students to gain first-hand experience of Chinese culture, lifestyle, customs, and conventions through establishing friendship relations with Chinese families. Students who join this program will be invited by their Chinese host family to join their family activities on a regular basis. Please sign up for this program.
Cross-University Chinese Language Performance Competition
This competition gives students in and outside of Iowa a great opportunity to show their oral Chinese proficiency as well as their talent in performing. As many as four universities have participated in the competition, including The University of Iowa. Each university presents a set of programs, and then participants are awarded prizes at an awards ceremony.
Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration
The Chinese Program hosts an annual celebration for the Mid-Autumn Festival. We invite all students and faculty members to join our party. You will meet Chang’e, the goddess of the Moon, learn a beautiful Chinese legendary story and taste moon cakes as well as other Chinese food. If you know some Chinese characters, you may win a prize! Come and join us!

Video Presentations of Posters
You will need to submit a video presentation of your work that is at most eight minutes in length. You are encouraged to promote your work via social media. There is a Social Media Award cash prize for gaining the most likes on your video! Please show your entire poster on the screen before any specific introductions to your poster. Also, make sure to have a QR code (二维码) so people can link to your actual poster.

Judges will provide suggestions for each submission after the given poster time has ended. Award winners will be announced on April 16.

How to get to the city centre
By train
The Gatwick Express goes from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria train and underground station in central London.
Trains go every 15 minutes and the journey to central London takes half an hour.
First Class tickets cost £ 25 (single), £ 48 (return).
Express Class costs £ 17 (single), £ 29 (return).
Southern Trains services run four times an hour to Victoria with a journey time of around 35 minutes.
By taxi
There are taxis outside the airport day and night. The journey to central London takes 55-70 minutes. A London taxi takes up to 5 people.

By car
