Cory had a quarrel with his mother for his study and left home in the morning. He had been wandering on the streets for almost a whole day, feeling so depressed and hopeless.
It was freezing cold at dusk on such a winter day. And the sky was dark. He was walking down an empty street where there were no passers-by, because people must have been at home for warmth. Cory was walking to a crossroad when suddenly he came across a little boy stuck in the middle of the road alone like him.
Cory had meant to turn a blind eye to him at first. But the boy’s situation worried him. He approached the boy, asking, “Hey! Why are you alone here? It was getting darker and darker, and Cory thought he had to help Simon find his home. He knocked on every door, but without luck. Worn out and starving, he realized Simon must be very hungry. He offered him the chocolate he had bought with his rest money. It began to snow and he removed his coat and put it around Simon. Luckily, there was still a bakery store with the door open. He borrowed a phone to call the police station.
