On Monday, a terrible earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, caused more than 46,000 deaths in the disaster and aftershocks. In Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a state of emergency in 10 affected provinces for three month. Rescue workers were struggling for difficult conditions and low temperatures. The government planned to open hotels in Antalya, the city popular with foreign visitors, to temporarily shelter people whom were homeless in the quake.
It was feared many remained trapped under collapsed buildings. The United Nations children’s agency said it fears. In the northwest, a rescue group being called the White Helmets said at least 9,000 have died. The leader of the group said they were making greatly efforts to deal with a large number of collapsed buildings.

A big storm destroyed two villages in South Africa on last Friday, causing 4 death. Over 200 people became homeless as a result of the storm. A farmer said the storm began early in the morning and last one hour. He said, “I was cooking in the kitchen with my wife and children while we heard a loud noise. A few minutes late, our house fell down. I managed to climb out, but much to my shocking, one of my boys were missing. March 11, 2011 was a holiday in Japan. Everything was going on like usual. Most people were at home while there came an extreme loud sound like thunder. Next, people's houses began to shake. Buildings cracked and water pipes bursting. In the town of Fukushima (福岛), the main street went up into the air, ten feet holes opened up in the ground, and buildings fell into ruins. People were shocking by the unexpected quake. Some ran up and down the street, while others were trapped in the buildings were looking out their windows for help. An earthquake that hit Japan was one of the strongest disaster in the world. Many towns were destroyed in the earthquake and a great number of people was killed. Most seriously, Fukushima nuclear accident happened.
