Have you ever dreamed of being famous     1     a musician? At first many singers may form a band to practice their music. And then they may get the chance to give     2    (perform) in pubs or clubs. Later they may gradually become popular. However, the Monkees started in     3     different way. They began as a TV show. The TV organizers had put an advertisement in a newspaper,     4     (look) for rock musicians who could act as well as sing.     5     (honest) speaking, only one of them was good enough and the other three members pretended     6     (sing). So it couldn’t     7     (call) a real band in the beginning. Anyhow,     8    they showed to the audience was really creative and they became popular. After a year or so, they worked harder, produced     9     (they) own records and started touring. In about 1970, the Monkees broke up but they reunited in the mid-1980s and in 1996 produced a new record, with     10     they became more successful.

Music can be just what you need     1     you’re feeling down. The right song can make you smile and feel like getting up and dancing. It can also calm you down when you’re worried. Besides changing     2     you feel, music may help your brain work better. Why does music have these powers? It may be because people’s bodies have     3     (nature) rhythms, such as a heartbeat and pulse.

It was a day     1     my life was turned over. We were caught in a storm when my two brothers and I were coming back from fishing. A huge wave covered our boat and my younger brother     2     (fall) into the sea. The moment I heard my elder brother cry out “Moskoe-storm”, I was frightened.

With the wind and waves, we were going in the direction of the whirlpool. We were hopeless.    3     (strange), when we were on the edge of the whirlpool I felt     4     (calm) than when we were moving towards it. I was     5     (amaze) at the power of nature. The boat was on the inside of the huge whirlpool and we were going round in circles at great speed. Later I made three important     6     (observe) and figured out a possible way     7     (escape). I tied myself to a barrel to help me float and jumped into the sea. But it was a pity that my brother was too frightened to follow my advice and     8     (pull) into the bottom of the whirlpool with the boat.

As you can see, the reason     9     I survived was that I made the right decision. Later I was carried to an area     10     I was saved by some fishermen who were my friends. When I told them my story, they didn’t believe it because it was really a miracle.
