As a rock festival，the Midi Festival 2017 in Beijing presented a musical carnival for fans．It was the 13th year of the outdoor music feast．This year，about 100 rock bands from home and abroad performed on five stages. It was held at a suburban park known for its mountains and grasslands．With beautiful scenery and exciting music，it was a good opportunity to enjoy rock with friends and family．

Ancient Chinese calligraphers(书法家)and painters were fond of painting on the folds of fans．Their excellence has left a wealth of outstanding works．A fan painting show exhibited 990 Ming and Qing(1368—1911)dynasty calligraphy and painting works on folding fans．They were selected from the collection of the National Museum of China．The themes of these fan paintings fell into four categories：natural landscapes，flowers and birds，figures and calligraphy．

Two artists held a joint exhibition with paintings featuring portraits of Chinese women in poetic poses．Wang Xiaojin，who is from Shandong Province，has been exhibiting since 1993．The other artist，Xu Zhigang，is originally from Liaoning Province，but is now in Beijing．

【推荐1】The STAR Eco Station is an environmental science museum, a wildlife rescue center, and a shelter for endangered animals. It carries out the mission “Preservation through Education” by educating visitors about the preservation of the environment and the inter-dependence of all living things.

STAR Eco Station hosts field trips for schools and camps throughout Southern California. Each field trip lasts two hours, consisting of a one-hour gathering and a one-hour tour of the facility, with lessons associated with California State Science Standards.

Throughout the field trip, students learn about the latest developments in environmental protection and the ways in which wildlife interacts with various ecosystems. The students also receive an up-close and hands-on experience with our rescued foreign wildlife. The tour includes different environmental exhibits that showcase the ways students can help protect animals in the wild.

Guided tours of the STAR Eco Station introduce visitors to over two hundred rescued foreign wildlife. The guided tour lasts approximately 45-60 minutes. Visitors are served on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required. However, tours may sell out. We suggest larger groups schedule a private tour.

【推荐2】It was a harvest year for women activists. Here are four inspiring women of the year.

In August 2013, Josephine Majani came to a hard hallway floor in the Bungoma District Hospital. She heard nurses yelling. She was helpless. Majani has no memory of being slapped, but when she regained consciousness, her cheeks stung (感觉痛). Her experience was captured on video. In February of this year, the court issued a landmark ruling awarding Majani $25,000, requiring that hospital staff formally apologize to her and demanded women be given quality care and treated with dignity during childbirth.

Man Kaur is 101, but her routine could tire most 20s. Every day she wakes up at 4 a.m., bathes, washes clothes, makes tea and recites prayers until about 7 a.m. And then she goes to the track for an hour of sprinting practice. And she’s not just doing it for fun. Kaur is a world record holder in her age group. Now you may be thinking: “Is she really 101?”

In August 2014, Nadia Murad was one of the women who were captured by ISIS. Three months later, she escaped. She has shared her painful story with international media outlets to show the world what happened to Yazidis. She has become a voice for captive women and girls in the process. In 2018, she became the co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Maria Garcia Ramos, 32, a disability activist, from Mexico, has been using a wheelchair since she was 14 due to an illness. She advocates for policy that advance rights for women with disabilities. She shares the biggest misunderstanding of people with disabilities: “People instantly think that a person with disabilities is broken or missing something.”
