No trip would be complete without experiencing the local food culture. Actually, China has various kinds of delicious food, including a wide variety of local snacks.

For most of the foreigners I contacted, and myself included, Peking Duck, Mongolian Hot Pot are the favorite Chinese     1     (dish). China is a place     2     the food is not only delicious, but the     3     (cheap) I’ve ever found.

    4     my last night in Beijing before returning to the States, I went to a Peking Duck restaurant that had been suggested for me to try. What a beautiful place! Splendid woodblock prints on the walls, fresh flowers in the vases,     5     (attract) silverware (银餐具) and beautiful chopsticks. I was handed     6     menu and found most of the prices     7     (be) especially low for the high quality of the food. The lucky came in whole or half, along with all the little decorations — a little tortilla (玉米粉圆饼) to put the sliced cluck and vegetables in, chopped onion and sauce.

Anyway, I ordered a whole duck, thinking I’d just take the rest back to my hotel     8     (eat) later if I couldn’t finish it.     9     (unbelievable), in the end there was none of the whole duck     10     (leave) on the plate.

Hanfu, meaning “Han clothing”, is based on the costumes     1     (wear) by China’s Han ethnic (种族的) group in the past. Some of the most popular styles are from the Ming, Song and Tang     2     (dynasty).

In recent years, it     3     (become) popular though there are some opposite views. About three quarters of Hanfu lovers are between 16 and 24 years old. Members of this generation often see it as a way to rediscover Chinese traditional culture. It’s pretty     4     (excite) to see young Chinese people building up their self-confidence and developing their individuality to show the world     5     they love. For more Chinese, this dress style might become a good starting point to     6     (far) explore the beauty of China’s long history and rich culture.

Li Siting, president of the Hunan Hanfu Culture Promotion Association, often communicates with people from various places. Last year, she attended the 7th Chinese music conference in Wuhan,     7     she met overseas Chinese culture lovers     8     (come) from Japan, France, Argentina and other places for the first time. Many people think Hanfu is not only the perfect bridge     9     young people to connect with Chinese culture,     10     a medium to promote Chinese culture.

The classical gardens of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, date back to the 6th century     1     the city was founded as the capital of the Wu Kingdom. Today, more than 50 of these gardens are still in     2     (exist), nine of which     3     (be) regarded as the finest embodiments (化身) of Chinese “Mountain and Water” gardens.

Built in the 11th century on the site of an earlier destroyed garden, Canglang Pavilion has the     4     (long) history among all the existing classical gardens in Suzhou. The classical gardens of Suzhou are the most vivid specimens (样本) of culture from the East Yangtze Delta region,     9     area known for its historical significance, in the 11th to 19th centuries. The underlying literature, art, and craftsmanship     10     (show) in the architecture and gardening perfectly reflect social, cultural, scientific, and technological development s of this period.
