One afternoon I was sitting at my favorite table in a restaurant,     1     (wait) for the food I had ordered to arrive. Suddenly I noticed that a man sitting at a table near the window kept glancing in my     2     (direct), as if he knew me. The man had     3     newspaper open in front of him,     4     he was pretending to read, but I could see that he was keeping an eye on me. When the waiter     5     (bring) my food, the man was     6     (clear) puzzled by the familiar way the waiter and I chatted with each other. He seemed even more puzzled as time went on and it became clear that all the     7     (waiter) in the restaurant knew     8    . Finally he got up and went into the kitchen. When he came out, he paid his bill and left. I called the owner of the restaurant and asked     9     was the matter with the man. “Well,” he said, “that man was a detective（侦探）. He followed you here because he thought you were the man he     10     (look) for.”

When it comes to volleyball, we can’t help     1    (think) of Lang Ping. Lang Ping used to be a     2    (fame) player. Now she is also known     3     a coach. Led by her, Chinese women volleyball team won the world championship in 2019,     4     made the whole nation excited.

Lang Ping was born in Tianjin in 1960. Lang began playing volleyball as a teenager and     5    (eventual) joined the national team in 1978. Her height made     6     possible for her to play volleyball well. With time going by, Lang Ping played better and better. Lang Ping and her teammates played so well that they won champions several     7    (time) in the 1980s.

After she     8    (retire) in 1986, Lang Ping coached volleyball in Italy and America. In 1995, she returned to China to work as a coach. She was     9     busy with her work to take care of her family. In 2016 Chinese women volleyball team won a gold medal at the Olympics in Brazil. Because of the victory, Lang Ping became the first person in the volleyball     10    (win) an Olympic gold medal as both a player and a coach. And, Lang Ping and her team won another world championship in 2019 for our motherland.

Kathrine Switze was a great woman. She wanted    1    (finish) a (26.2 mile) marathon and challenge herself. As we all know, before 1967, women were not allowed to run in the race. But Kathrine managed to get an official    2    (enter). So Kathrine became the first woman ever    3    (compete) in the Boston Marathon.

In fact in the middle of the Boston Marathon, the race director tried to make her stop running. But a friend of hers stopped him from doing so and helped Kathrine finish the race.     4    (final), in 1972, the rules    5    (change) to allow women to run in the Boston Marathon.

Kathrine was    6    (energy) and continued to participate    7    more races, including the New York City Marathon, which she won several years later. Thanks    8    her, the Women’s Marathon became an official Olympic sport later.

Her courage and perseverance in completing the first marathon in Boston has made her a role model for women around the world,     9    also encouraged women all around    10    world.
