As we walk along “the path of life”, we are meant to come across some true friends, who encourage us and help us get through the hard time. To me, Tim is the one who brings out the     1     (good) in me. He will always bring back the friendship between us.

It was my first day at high school. I     2     (walk) alone on the playground when a basketball rolled to my feet. A boy with a smile on his face came running to me, picked up the ball     3     asked if I could play basketball with him. I hesitated for a moment, then I said no and told him why. To my surprise he didn’t walk away. Instead, he encouraged me     4    (have) a try and I did. Over the next few weeks, we made it to the playground every day and stuck to     5     (practise) together. Friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. It is actually like a bottle of wine. The longer it    1     (keep), the sweeter it will be. It is also like a cup of tea. However, in this fast-developing modern society, the reality is not that. As we know, we would feel lonely if we didn’t even have a friend, but it doesn’t mean we could depend on our friends all the time. There is     10    famous motto saying that “A friend is like a quilt with cotton wadding, but the real thing that keeps you warm is your own temperature.”

A London Marathon runner saw a competitor who needed help. The competitor had fallen to the ground, so he picked him up. When he     1     (fall) down again, he decided to support him to the finish line 200 metres away. Matthew, the runner who     2     (selfless) helped his competitor, became famous on the Internet. The two runners became friends and     3     (meet) at next year’s London Marathon, hopefully.

Not so very long ago, people contacted their friends faraway only by writing letters. With     1    development of technology, people keep     2    touch with their friends with social media tools nowadays. They find their friends with the same     3    (interest) and maintain their friendship, even though they live in different countries.

However, there is one disadvantage of making friends online. People tend     4    (post) only good things to make them appear happy and     5     (friend). In fact, we can’t     6     (exact) know who the person on the Internet is. The person online may act as anyone     7     he likes to be.

Although technology     8    (change) the way of making friends and     9    (maintain) friendship, the meaning of friendship and     10    (we) longing for friends remain the same. No one can live without a friend.

An elderly lady    1     lives near me keeps her garden so beautiful. It has an abundance of flowers and colours. The weather is not too good here at the moment， and actually it     2    （rain）. One day I drove past this elderly lady's house and     3     garden was showing signs of winter with very little by way of flowers or colour. I knocked on her door and she came out， She didn't know me and I told her I had flowers for her.

She said she couldn't imagine she would     4    （give） flowers. I told her I was giving them to her because she worked so hard in her garden and we all got to enjoy the     5     （beautiful） of it， She was     6    （ total） surprised. All she could say was ‘I don't know     7     to say.' Her name is Elizabeth.     8    （tear） ran down Elizabeth's face and you would truly think she'd just won a prize.

Elizabeth told me she loved flowers， and I laughed，    9    （tell） her I had already knew that! I also gave her a little thank﹣you card    10    （let） her know all her hard work in her garden brought joy to others， Elizabeth this moment was so precious to me.
