Spend time with them. It can be difficult to spend time with your parents, especially during school days as your schedule is busy and your parents are at work. Try to have at least one meal with them in a day.     2     If your parents share things too, show them you were listening by asking him about it later.

Do your chores. Think of the things that your parents are always asking you to do around the house. Think of the chores that are your responsibility.     3     If you don’t like doing chores because you find them boring or difficult, ask your parents for tips on how to do them. Perhaps they can help you think of new ways of doing them.

    4     It can be difficult not to answer back, especially if you don’t agree with something your parents are saying. Exercise some self-discipline and wait to have a discussion when you’re calm. If you’re feeling angry, take slow, deep breaths to help you calm down. If you can, sit down and have a drink of cool water. This should help you calm down.

【推荐2】It was a normal school day for senior Solymar Solis until an unexpected visitor arrived . Her dad, Solis Melendez, surprised her by coming home early from Kuwait and visiting her unannounced at Spring Valley High School in South Carolina.

After serving in Kuwait for nine months, Melendez returned home a week earlier than his daughter expected . He held balloons and flowers in a classroom as he sat at a student’s desk to blend in with the crowd. “ It came across my mind like, ‘How is she going to react?’, he recalled the heartwarming moment.” Is she going to be happy and run to me and hug me, or cry? That was all going on through my mind .

As unsuspecting Solymar entered the classroom, she was soon overcome with emotion, immediately bursting into tears and covering her mouth. She didn’t talk. She was just crying. She was overwhelmed with everything. She thought it was a dream.

Melendez was a single parent so while he was deployed (调度), he got his sister to live with his daughter. When he was coming back and talking to his sister, both of them came to the conclusion that they should do something special for his daughter. Melendez and his sister got in touch with the school and they planned this whole being -in -the-classroom thing,and it turned out perfect.

The two are very much looking forward to some daddy-daughter time now that he’s home. “It means everything,” Melendez said of being able to surprise his daughter this way. “After all the sacrifices she’s made, she deserves all the special arrangements and special occasions and celebrations. I’ll do anything for my daughter. I believe I’m doing good parenting!”

【推荐3】Coming of age is that time in each of our lives when we begin to see the possibilities. The world opens up in ways that mature our vision and give us a sense of responsibility and gratefulness. Connor had just started college and loved being at that stage in his life where he could eat all the pizza he wanted, yet engage in adult conversations with his parents about the responsibility to make life better for others. Connor’s optimism was infectious. There was so much he could do, and so much he could become.

But it all ended one night when Connor was distracted while driving on a Colorado highway. A young man, who gave off so much light, suddenly went dark.

Connor’s father, David, took it particularly hard.A father sees more than his own traits(性格) in his son; he sees greater possibilities than he achieved. Taking that hope away left David feeling at a loss. But Connor ‘s optimism was one of those traits passed on to him by his father. So, David got to work.

First, he established the Honor Connor Scholarship Fund to reward students who served in the community, Next, he went to work creating a research-based curriculum that educates University of Colorado Boulder students and their families about the dangers of texting while driving. It includes a very simple three part promise: Do not text or use social media while driving, speak out if riding with a driver who is distracted and encourage friends and family to drive phone-free.

David now works with lecturers at various colleges’ and high schools, ensuring young minds understand how statistically at risk they are when they text while driving. He’s become a passionate advocate for preparing young people to drive safely and not reach for their phones while they’re at the wheel. “I just don’t want other parents to go through what I did when I lost Connor,” says David. “It’s just so preventable.”
