While the soldiers began to cross the English Channel, the German fired at them. Twenty men on Boat 5 fell into the water and was picked up by other boats. If they reached the beach, they would probably have been killed
The soldiers on Boat 1 and Boat 4 jumped into the water, most of them drowned. The survivors laid on the beach, exhausting. Later, they tried to climb up the cliff. Four were very tired to reach the top. The other two joined in a group from other company and fought with them. This was Able Company’s contribution to D-Day.

March 27,1964 was a holiday in Alaska,so most people were at home,but everything was going on as usually.Suddenly,there were a sound like thunder.Next,people’s houses began to shake.Buildings crack and water pipes burst.In the town of a city,the main street went up into the air and buildings fell down.People were shocked by this unexpected disasters.Some ran up and down the street while others who were trapped at the buildings were looking for help.

The earthquake from which hit Alaska was one of the strong quakes in North America.It destroyed much towns and a great number of people were killed.It seemed as the world was at an end.

Yesterday, I read an interesting story about two men who travelled from France to England in a hot air balloon in 1784. Highly over the water, they discovered the hole in the balloon. The hole became bigger and bigger. The air keeps the balloon up was escaping quickly and the balloon was coming up. The two men threw all their equipments into the water to make the balloon light. It started to rise higher again. So it was still too close to the water. Finally, the men threw away most of his clothes to save themselves. The crowd waiting to greet with them in England were very surprised see this when the balloon landed in front of them.

On September 1939, Britain declared war on Germany after Germany invades Poland. The war, that lasted until 1945, is knowing as the Second World War. During the war, Germany occupied much countries, including France. The most important battles of the war in Europe was Operation Overland, the military operation in 1944 to invade France.

Operation Overland started when boats full with of soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy in France, known as D-Day landings. More than 5,000 ships crossed the English Channel, carry 130,000 troops to the French coast.

The situation was so bad. However, the soldiers eventually made breakthrough and the D-Day landings were successfully.
