A metal statue of Greek soldier was discovered in northern Xingjiang, China. Researchers explained that not doubt this was a result of Alexander the Great’s influence.

Alexander the Great was the son of a Greek king who defeated much Greek cities in battle. In the age of 20, he became king after his father died. However, many cities rose up against Alexander, so he led an army to take it back. Though his army had only 3,000 troop, but he won every battle. He took his army into the Middle East, Egypt, then India. It seemed that something could stop him from conquering the entire world. However, his own army grew tiring of endless battles and refused to go any farther. Late he came down with a fever and died in 323 BC.

Alexander the Great spread the Greek culture from Europe to Africa and Asia. The statue of the Greek soldier probable came to China in the 4th century BC with a result of trade.

This morning we attended a lecture about Pompeii, that was founded in the 8th century BC. In 89 BC, the Romans took over Pompeii. It then became the rich and busy city. In 24 August AD 79, the volcano erupted. Many people buried alive, and so was the city. What unfortunate! I saw streets just as it had been, with stepping stones along the road so you did not have to step in the mud on rainy days! I saw several house which were decorated with wall paintings. I also saw the people who had been buried alive. It turns out that after the trash covered the people who they failed to flee the city, their bodies nearly completely break down and disappeared, leaving empty spaces in the disaster. It’s hard to imagine how this peacefully volcano destroyed the whole city.

March 27,1964 was a holiday in Alaska,so most people were at home,but everything was going on as usually.Suddenly,there were a sound like thunder.Next,people’s houses began to shake.Buildings crack and water pipes burst.In the town of a city,the main street went up into the air and buildings fell down.People were shocked by this unexpected disasters.Some ran up and down the street while others who were trapped at the buildings were looking for help.

The earthquake from which hit Alaska was one of the strong quakes in North America.It destroyed much towns and a great number of people were killed.It seemed as the world was at an end.

Neil Armstrong was an astronaut. He made history July 20, 1969. He was the first man to walk on the moon! While Armstrong step on the moon, he said, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Millions of people were watching this amazingly event on TV. It was a awesome thing to look it up at the moon that night and know that a man was walking around on it! For years, people had wondered that there would be moon creatures lived there. But the only things Armstrong found was moon rocks and moon dusty.
