What do I do?
First, choose your level. Then, choose a topic. Finally, choose a lesson. Study Zone is made up of levels, Each level has language topics. Each topic has Lessons. Lessons include exercises to help you improve your English.
Where am I now?
The menu at the top of each page tells you where you are. You can click on each part of it to go back to different levels. Click on Home on the left to go to the beginning of Study Zone. The name of the page you are on is on the right side of the menu. Levels in between Home and the page you are on are links (链接) that you can click on.
About the Study Zone
The Study Zone is for students of the English Language Centre( ELC) at the University of Victoria. ELC teachers create the English language lessons and practice exercises. The site is designed for our adult English language learners, but all are welcome to read the lessons and use the exercises.

Preston Singletary: Raven and the Box of Daylight
Pacific Northwest music and projects accompany (伴随) a major show at the National Museum of the American Indian by Tlingit glass artist Preston Singletary. Organised by the artist with the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, it was originally supposed to open in the fall of 2020. The show tells the story of Raven and his efforts to change the world by bringing light to people from the stars, moon and sun. (Jan, 28, 2022-Jan. 29,2023).
Baseball: America’s Home Run
This show features hundreds of U.S. and international stamps remembering baseball’s finest players. First organised to mark the 150th anniversary (周年庆) of professional baseball in 2019. “Baseball: America’s Home Run” will feature some historic objects that have never appeared on public show. (Apr.9-Sep.25, 2022)

What do you think Zurich is famous for? Great banks? Yes. People can find many Swiss banks and foreign banks here. But the city is of great interest to many people for another reason. Zurich hosts Europe’s largest street party each year. Its Street Parade has overtaken London’s Notting Hill Carnival. What’s hot in the city in 2014? In August, Zurich hosted the European Athletic Championships. This gave tourists a chance to see the world’s top athletes making new records.

Many people may know Sydney or Melbourne. They are big cities in Australia. But Adelaide wins people’s hearts with great festivals and tasty food. Adelaide Fringe Festival is the largest art festival in Australia. Every February and March, people celebrate with outdoor art works, dance performances and live music.
