I’ll be perfectly honest: I’m not a fan of The Teen Cops. To me, it’s very much like watching a silly comedy show on television. But, let me first say that not everything in the movie is bad.

The main characters are funny and lovable. Linda is cute, Sam is funny and Mr. Timmy, the dog, is a perfect partner to the two teenage crime fighters. The producers have also come up with exciting new music.

While the characters in the movie are fine, the plot is too simple. “They look for the bad guys, they find the bad guys, and then they catch the bad guys.” Boring! No difference from so many television programmes that we have seen before.

Here’s another reason why I don’t like the plot. Two teenagers and a little dog act like they are smarter than experienced policemen and criminals. This may be a comedy, but it isn’t funny.

It seems that Director James Ma has made this comedy for people of all ages to enjoy. But, in my opinion, he has failed and it is not worth seeing.

South of Florida, there   are a lot of islands in the ocean. One of them is Hispaniola. Two countries share this island. Haiti makes up the western third. The Dominican Republic makes up the eastern two-thirds.

The Dominican Republic has an area of about 18,000 square miles and a population of about 8 million. Most of these people live close to the island’s coast. Most of the cities are there and so is the best farmland. Sugar sticks have been the island’s most important crop for hundreds of years. Cattle (牛) are kept in the mountainous area.

Like many other tropical (热带的) islands, tourism is a very important industry for the Dominican Republic. The coastal cities depend on tourists to fill their hotels and restaurants. The natural beauty of the beaches and forests attract (吸引) tourists from home and abroad.

In the cities and towns there are many artists and craftspeople selling their works. If you like parades and costurnes,   go in February for Carnival (狂欢节). You will see people dancing and wearing colourful masks (面具). Whether you want to join the crowds or get away from them, there is a place for you in the Dominican Republic.

Getting Up to Speed

Before you begin running, you should:

Find a partner to train with you. Ask a friend from school or from your neighbourhood, your brother or sister, or a parent or other relative.

Make sure you have a good pair of running shoes that fit you well.

Stay hydrated (含水的)!     62     Be sure to drink water often to keep your body working.

    63     Fruits   and vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat   milk products all help keep a healthy body. Have an apple and a piece of cheese, or an orange and whole-grain cakes.

Don’t push yourself too hard.     64     If you are pushing yourself too hard, talking will be difficult because you’ll be short of breath (呼吸).

    65     Running is just one of many different activities you can do to stay in shape. Change your routine (常规的) enough to keep it interesting, and bring along a friend to run together.

My little dog Dash was once stolen from me. After being away for some     66    , he one day came back with a long rope tied around     67     neck. He had broken away from the man who had stolen him. How     68     I was to see my good dog back again!
