When I was in university, I was very fat. I thought that nice clothes looked very ___________ on me. I tried many ways to lose weight(重量), but all of them didn’t work. I was very ___________. The Mid-Autumn Festival has a history of 2,000 years. During these 2,000 years lots of Mid-Autumn traditions have been thought up by Chinese people. All the celebrations show the happiness and excitement of people.

The main celebrations during the Mid-Autumn Festival are appreciating the moon, eating moon-cakes together and making Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns. These three celebrations have been passed from generation to generation. Chinese people may think the Mid-Autumn Festival is not coming if they don’t do these three things.

In some places in China people celebrate the festival in different ways. In Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, people eat taro(芋头) to celebrate the festival, because the taro harvest occurs at the same time as the festival. They eat taro and hope the harvest is good in the next year. In Nanjing, people cook duck with sweet-scented osmanthus (桂花), because Nanjing people think sweet-scented osmanthus is a symbol of peace. In some places people make fires inside towers to celebrate the festival, because they think the fire is a symbol of good business.

In the literary history of China, many poets penned praise to the pure moon of mid-autumn night and gave words to their delicate feelings. The following is one of the best of those poems.

The moonlight is shinning through the window.

And it makes me wonder if it is thefroston the ground, Looking up to see the moon,

Looking down I miss so much about my hometown.

Li Bai used his lines to express his homesickness at the Moon Festival.

Long long ago, there lived two girls named Emily and Tina. Both of them had long black hair and blue eyes. One day while they were playing in the back yard (庭院), Emily heard a tinkling (叮当) sound. She jumped up. “Listen,” she told her twin. They listened. The noise came again.

This time Tina heard it. She sat up. “It came from over there,” She whispered, looking at the zinnias (鱼尾菊) far away. They came near to find it out. Then something flew out, making the same tinkling sound they had heard before. The children looked at one another. “Was it a bee?” asked Tina. “I don’t think so,” replied Emily. “Do bees make a sound like bells?” “Let’s call it the Tinkle Bee anyway,” said Tina. Emily nodded, listening with a little difficulty. What had made that noise?

The next day, Emily and Tina brought their cookies outside. Tina took her plate by the zinnias. Suddenly she caught something. “Emily!” she called. “I’ve got the Tinkle Bee!” Emily rushed over. They sat down on the grass. Tina opened her hand very carefully. There was that sound! Something was shining in Tina’s hand. They smiled. Then Emily cried, “It’s a fairy (仙女)!” Tina looked down at it in her hand. It looked like a girl. A tiny girl with wings! Tina dropped it before she noticed that a wing was torn (撕裂). The little fairy could not fly away so she took a piece of grass out of the ground and sat on it.

Emily and Tina were surprised at what they saw. The fairy turned to Emily and said, “Hello, I am Marabella.” Then she said again, “Marabella the Fairy.” Emily smiled. “I’m Emily,” she said. Tina said, “I’m Tina. Are you really a fairy?” “Oh, yes!” replied Marabella. “I’ve always been a fairy.”

It was a sunny and enjoyable day. Everyone in the railway station was waiting for the train to arrive.

A group of friends made a loud noise to welcome the train as it moved into the station. They ran to get their seats before anyone else entered the train.

The empty seats were filled and the train whistled to move. An old man with a young boy aged around 15 had their seats just next to the friends’ group. The young boy was so surprised to see everything.

He cheered, “Dad, the train is moving and the things are moving backward.” His father smiled and nodded his head.

As the train started moving fast, the young boy again screamed, “Dad, the trees are green in color and run backward very fast.” His father said, “Yes, dear.” and smiled.

Just like a kid, he was watching everything with great interest.

The group was watching all the activities of the boy and asked the boy’s father, “Is your son having any problems? Why is he behaving so differently?”

“His son is mad, I think.” a friend from the group made fun of him and shouted.

The father of the young boy, with patience, replied to the friends group, “My son was born blind. Only a few days ago he had an operation on his eyes. He is seeing different things in his life for the first time.”

The young friends became very quiet.

Today Chinese people can enjoy longer and more holidays, such as the Spring Festival, National Day, Mid-autumn Festival and so on. They have more time to travel. Rising incomes（增长的收入）also make it possible for most Chinese people to travel abroad（到海外）.

Zhang Haitao, a middle school student in Shanghai will go to Korea with his parents during the Spring Festival. “Traveling abroad has always been a dream of mine,” Zhang Haitao said. “How will you go to Korea, by air or by ship?” I asked him. “By ship. Traveling by ship is more enjoyable（令人愉快的）than a trip by air.” “But a plane is much faster than a ship.” “Yes. But you can’t see much during the flying while a sea trip will make you happier, because you can see the sea, islands and even big fish.”

“Will you travel at your own expense（费用）?”

“Certainly. Although my father is only a bus driver, I’m very proud of him. He has saved lots of money in the last three years. What’s more, he has made a difference to our environment.”
